So, after 12 hours of dyno time, 27 different tune files uploaded, and 44 dyno pulls (mostly partial throttle, for drivability tuning) my tuner and I have thrown in the towel.
If anyone out there running the Thumpr stage 2 cams is thinking about adding an intake manifold to their setup, don't. Unless you like your exhaust popping like a '60's clown car at a circus.
We've covered timing from 25 degrees to 40 degrees of spark with just as many combinations of A/F to support 3k/rpm at various loads. The best combination so far is 38 degrees of spark and 14.1 A/F @ 3k/rpm under .60-.70 load. It still pops, but not as bad as many other combinations of timing/AF.
For now, I'll have to live with staying away from 3k/rpm partial throttle loads.
WOT the car screams like banshee missile and blows the tires off like it's nobodies business in 2nd gear. Normal driving, just can't seem to handle partial throttle around 3k/rpm.
I'm officially on board the Thumpr cams hater waggon. These cams blow donkey nuts. I can not wait to get them out of my car. They were fun with basic bolt ons, but now they're nothing but a headache. Every tuner I've talked to hates these cams, and now I'm understanding why.
Highly recommend the FRPP intake manifold though. 360rwhp @ 6300rpm and pulls all the way to 6700 (my limiter) without falling off. Not bad for some shitty cams.
