Dex keep us updated on the breather. I am definetly interested in it.
...Wonder if it helps a N/A car any?
I have an NA car. After reading this I tried venting the crank case and the heads, both together and seperatly. All opening were covered with filters. I made 8 pulls with no changes to tuning. There was no changes to my peak HP or TQ. Doug was the last person to tune my car, so I didn't want to mess with it.
I did notice that on a street test, the motor sounds to have recovered faster from bouncing off the rev limiter during 1-2 and 2-3 power shifting. I am going to take it to the track to test that idea next Wednesday. Should be interesting if I can see an improvement at the track.
I dont see it benefiting an N/A car because you arent putting a ton more air into the engine.
Did you do a PCV delete? If so, you may want to think about a crankcase evac pump, like the LT1 boys run. I could see how you would generate a BUNCH of pressure with a boosted motor and the stock "PCV" setup. If I were doing that sort of motor, I would run scavenger lines from the driver's valve cover over to a catch can, then plumb the output of the can through a vacuum pump, and hang a filtered breather on the passenger side valve cover. Plug the inlet air tube nipple and the intake manifold nipple as well, obviously.
I did the catch can on the drivers side and the breather on the pass side and the breather was soaked in oil in 300 mi . This was with out the vac. pump though.Did you do a PCV delete? On your fender and in your shorts. And getting that under the rear tires could leave a mark...
my car has breathers...well remote breathers..same concept...both side plumbed to a catch can with a breather. If you do both sides you will be fine.
Mine is remotely located to prevent oil mist on the motor...you can get a look at it here
