Dealer will not clone my BCM

I have a bad BCM from the notorious cowl leak inb my 2007 GT; windows won't work and engine will not start. I bought an identical one on Ebay and sent it to a cloning service but he sent it back and said he cannot program mine (Delphi). Mine and the donar BCM are both off a 4.6 GT. So I called my local Ford dealer and they will not clone it since it is a used part. They are not even sure they can get a new one. I cleaned up all the terminals and it still will not start/work.

This can't be a unique problem given the water leak problems that 2007 has had.

Any service outfits out there that can clone it or other ideas?

I have not tried swapping out yet but muy understanding is that the VIN will not match and issues arise.

Getting desparate in GA.

Just a guess but maybe an ECU remapper or repairer can clone it for you? Not everybody has the talent required in this department. I had a smart guy clone an ECU for me a few years back to save me having to buy a BCM and a key plus new locks all round for a vehicle that fried the ECU.

Is it the same part number? Some dealers are not interested if they are aftermarket parts

You can download your car's original factory AsBuilt data from Ford and possibly write it to the new hardware. I have a junkyard SJB that one of these days I might experiment with by doing that via Forscan.

They probably just assumed it was not available. In the auto industry after so many years all the manufacturers stop making parts. Any time I have a situation like that, I will still always search and show a print out to the client showing what Ford said. Not me!

Bcm/sjb does not need programming to work. Plug it in, car should start. Configurable options, (like key fobs, tpms, rolling doorlocks, alarm) wont work, those need to be configured. But the car should run without those.

Correct. However to e functional it does not hurt to verify

While troubleshooting a random stalling problem on my 2006 V6, I had my ECU fully bench tested by /www.maicsalazardiagnostics.com/ and he found nothing wrong with it, or the instrument cluster. He is extremely knowledgeable and also can repair SJB/BCM units. The random stalling turned out to be EMI interference on the CPS wire where I discovered the shield wire was rubbing on the ECU mount. Fixed it and have had no more stalling, strange to say the least that a shield wire grounding at a location other than where it is supposed to would cause stalling but was told by multiple Google posts /AI that yes it can.

While trouble shooting my random stalling issue, I decided to change the SJB and found one that had the same P/N and was not corroded as far as I could tell by carefully looking at the photos. I had opened my original SJB and found some minor corrosion, but it was still working fine, but I wanted to replace it anyway, and it was only $100 from EBAY, but you must find one that does not show any green corrosion. Everything on the replacement unit worked fine except the shift lock, turns out it was from a GT with manual transmission, and after fiddling with it for a while and determining I could get it to work by running an extra wire, I just decided to put a screw in the shifter lock out solenoid linkage and presto I can put it in gear. I did have to reprogram the key Fob and door locks and there are YouTube videos on how to do it.

When I redid the MS-CAN circuit on my car I had to replace a couple modules (APIM/ACM I think). I used Forscan to write my AsBuilt data to them. I was also able to turn off TPMS and program new keys. I am not sure if Forscan can do a BCM, but I think it would. Check out a Forscan forum. There is a ton of good information there. In my case, it wasn't the module that crapped out, it was the PO who had cut into the MS-CAN circuit in the dash that was giving me issues.
