The only issue I have is that you are using your opinion on a C4 and passing it off as a fact. If you could provide any evidence that the C4 has an increased depreciation value over the C5 I would love to see it. Or better yet show me that a 5.0 depreciates at a slower rate then a s197
Good lord, I never said ANYTHING about depreciation rates. wtf

What I spoke to is the difficulty in selling a car due to the popularity of the following generation. People just aren't looking for the older, lower power version of any given car, even if it's significantly less expensive like a C4 vs C5. Or like a '98 vs '99 GT. Or an '01 vs '03 Cobra. Or a '97 vs '98 Z28. Or a '91 vs '92 turbo Supra.

The new 5.0 Mustangs will depreciate just like everything else. I really just thought this was basic, obvious information that was clearly explained in my first post. I'm sorry if you felt like I was talking shit about the '05-09s even when I clearly said they were good cars.
Get rid of it while you still can.

Pretty soon owning 3v GT is going to be like owning an old C4 Corvette. Good cars, but you can't get rid of them for shit when competing in the used marketplace with much nicer, newer, faster versions of the same model.

I agree with you. You're looking at it from a logical money stand point, not from an enthusiast stand point.

If we are going to start being logical about this . I should sell my car now as any miles or mods i do to this car is only going to lower its value. If I wanted to be logical I should have kept my 00 astro van since it was paid off.

I don't think you are putting down 3 valve cars, you are just posting information that is incorrect. What you are reffering to is the demand of a vehicle which is reflected by the true market value, or what people are willing to pay for any given item.
According to your statement, nobody would ever buy a V6 model because "nobody is looking for a lower powered version." Obviously that is not true, people buy older and less powerful cars because they can not afford the latest generation.

Everyone gets complacent and wants the newer car, I went throught this same debate as well, but I figured that i already had about 12k worth of mods already that I couldn't get back if I sold it, so i figured to go with a polished whipple FTW..could be happier, car is really quick, it's paid for and there isn't another one like it!! Next interior up grade.

When this all started I wasnt taking offense to your comments at all.LOL.I just think you could apply the same logic to every car thats on this board. We all have spent more money on these cars than we will ever get out of them in the future. But thats just part of the game.My comment to the OP to mod the one he has was based upon this, Its paid for,he ultimately wants a boosted car,he currently doesnt owe a penny on the very low mileage car he already has.So to suggest he puts money in the one he has doesnt seem to ludicrus of an idea as we all are doing it.We arent doing it for resale value or because we want the next guy in line to buy our car.we all do it because we are fuckin nuts and spend money to go faster than we will ever be able to go on any road in the US.So all I am saying is why go out and buy a 5.0,make a car payment, then ultimately want to add even more money in the form of mods.Which keep in mind these are mods he has always wanted to do to his current car but hasnt financially been able to pull the trigger on.So in closing perhaps you should reconsider wasting money on the 5.0 because the 2014 is coming and your car is going to be worth nothing, noone will want it anymore and you will be stuck with it forever...........:thumb2::boobies:

I'm in kind of the same spot. I have my car on Ebay. I think I have a buyer. I have a 2010 Roush Hammer Vert lined up, but after emailing the guy and telling him about my car I'm now wondering if I should sell it.

05 and up Mustangs are doing stupid $$ at the auctions. It use to be you could steal a GT Mustang in the winter time in New England. Not any more. The seasons dont matter anymore. It is supply in demand now. There just arent enough used clean low milage Mustangs out there. And the few that do run through the block get over NADA clean trade in and close to retail in the Spring/Summer time. Same goes for nice used F150's and Super Duties and especially 07-10 USed Explorers that arent rentals..Insane money on a 2009-2010 used low milage Limited or E.B. Explorer. Mustangs right now are no different..All stock the better. Most dealers like them completely stock and un-molested, not modded. A very small crowd likes a modded car to buy at a dealership. Most people wont even consider a modded car..

A Whipple would certainly be just what the doctor ordered!!!!!!:thumb2::beer:

You have a nice car and it's paid for! Put the Whipple on and enjoy it!

If it feels old then go get a new set of leather seats, steering wheel and carpet, instant new car feel!

My car is an 05 and there is no way it hell it will get traded for a Nissan Altima rear end. I will get a fucking vette first.

JMO, good luck.

I went through the same situation. I decided to trade my 08Gt for 09GT500.
I’ll keep the Gt500 until I see the new redesign in 2015 then I’ll decided if to keep the GT500 or get the new design.
