Has anyone thought about a dyno ranking list? I know alot of people don't care about dyno numbers! Just like some people do not car about drag racing.
What about a creating a list just to see what different Mods make what.

Just thinking outloud.

If a list was made, it would have to include dyno type, location and elevation, weather conditions, mods on the car, baseline numbers....etc etc

IMO there's way to many factors to responsibly create such a ranking.

its the same factors as track times. those same factors affect time slips.

Dyno's, despite correction factores, are relative measurements. You're best bet is to dyno b/f and after mods on the same dyno and consistently use that dyno. Its the gains that are the most important. If you don't remember that, the dyno can be a heartbreaker.

to quote Don_W

HP numbers are good and all, but they are like asking someone how much they can bench. What difference does it make if I can still kick your ass?

Dyno's are tuning tool only... ETs are where its at!

I just want to see what all the different available Mods will produce. Different companies power adders all the way to Built engine combos. Lets say database not ranking list.

I agree with Matt.

I can't think of a very many parts you can install that would not have some before and after numbers on this site already.

Again... most people refer to "peak" numbers when talking about dynos. And a chart like this would only be able to track the peak numbers. So even a before/after comparison is not reliable. What if I do a mod to increase low to mid torque numbers, but the peak number doesn't change? Does that mean the mod wasn't worth it?

Unless one is truly analyzing the area under the curves, then a dyno sheet is just a penis size comparison contest. And no matter how big your penis is, if you never use it, who cares. Get out and race dammit! :thumb:
