While you haven't had an issue, doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement especially with e85. Dysan saw a huge improvement with the swap even at his relatively low hp level 500-550hp.

I had to run a different filter as I'm return now, but I love that I will never have to buy a filter again.

I'm not arguing that. My point is that it's not necessary. My advice would be to change the filter after a tank or two of e85 because it's going to scrub all the built up varnishes and deposits out of the fuel system. They will affect flow from the fuel filter.

I'm one of those people who changes the fuel filter every year. I've thought of an aftermarket version in the past. How difficult is it to clean and how good of a job do they do?

You can use regular gas, acetone, alcohol etc to clean the 10 micron stainless steel filter element. The filter cap twists off from the body with AN wrenches or smooth jaw adjustable wrenches. They also have fittings now for a gauge so you can mount it right at the entrance to the filter so you can monitor losses through the filter element.

So you think there is an improvement in flow just by swapping the filter? Dysan did the lines from pump to rails if I understand his post correctly.

I wonder if anyone has done a test of just the filter?

As far as flow the oem filter itself is not a restriction, as far as I can tell anyway. Its just easy to upgrade when doing the line upgrade. (Vice spending $40 on fittings to adapt the aftermarket an lines back to push lock oem fittings to fit the stock filter, you put that money towards a better reusable filter)

These are my biggest issues with the stock fuel line setup.

It has 5/16" inner diameter but it all gets choked down by this less than 4mm opening at the oem line to rail connection.

And I cut open the pprv valve and the little ball on the brass seat is around 3mm in diameter, all your fuel has to go through that first before it even hits the line. While you can throw bigger pumps and baps at the system and push it and make lots of power with the stock line and rails, its hard to deny the benefits of removing these restrictions and having a more efficient fuel system overall.

Absolutely. You were the one who pointed out the rail fitting a few years ago. I have to wonder why it's that small when compared to the rest of the stock line? Just bsing here but I have to ask have you done any experimenting with enlarging or using an alternate pprv? I'm going to guess you have given it some thought.

Didn't see the need to actually mod it and keep it. I just incorporated waiting a few seconds at key on into my routine. I key on and watch my fuel pressure guage needle come up, make sure pressure is good then crank. I know back from my 2v days and for the termi's the pprv delete was a must do mod when upgrading the fuel system, which is why I dug into the 3v one. I have not torn apart a gt500 pprv yet though. The outside dimensions are the same, I do have a few laying around, may cut one open and take a gander at it as well. Dysan has the gt500 hat so he did delete it off his.

When I was doing a filter replacement when I was still using the stock filter I tried blowing through both the saturated filter I removed from the car as well as a brand new dry one and there is quite a bit of restriction even blowing just air through it. I tried the same when I got the Fore stainless filter and it is much less restrictive.

How much of a benefit you would notice by just changing the filter I don't know..but the stock is a restriction.

I'm sorting out the tune with some help from Bruceh, ordering my fuel line upgrade this week. Still got to figure out a reasonable way to get the stuff...lol, it's scarce in my neck of the woods.

Or I think I am going to a local guy that does sprint car racing and he can get e85 by the 55 gal drum for cheaper than it would be for me to drive 45 min and price of it. Just a idea

So just ordered the fuel line upgrade from Jeremy, going with #8 from the hat to a "y" block at the rails with a fore filter. I should be able to get all that in next weekend, so the plan is to find a few gallons of e85 before hand and run it though the system before switching out the filter. Get all my 93 cycled out before switching filters.

If it's like what I got the line is PTFE hose...teflon I believe. I was surprised when i got mine since it just looks like a plastic lining inside stainless mesh but it has been holding up great for me so far...no fuel smell.

Paul, if you could do a before and after the line upgrade as far as duty cycle etc.that would be great. Always like to see that data!

WOW!

Anyone who is on the fence needs to just figure out a way to make the switch! I got my first fill up last night and the difference is crazy just how much smoother the motor runs, how much smoother the pulls are and who much more consistent the logs look. No adjustments have been done to the tune really besides just changing the stoich at this point. Cant wait to get it dialed in!

BTW i just want to say thank you to BruceH and Lito for the help on the tuning side of things, BIG BIG help, Lito has answered my emails at 11pm....these guys are truley what make these forums great!!
