Well winter is finally here in full force so the car is into the shop to begin full tear down and rebuild. Have lots of planned changes. Some minor and some very major. As I get into this build I'll let you in on what my plans are and all the mods I'll be doing but the big ones are a powertrain swap, twin turbos, fresh paint and finally putting the replacement Roush nose back on the car.

So it's off to the races then. First event I want to run is March 7-9 at Lauguna Seca so it'll be a strong push to get the car done.

Here are a few starting point pictures

Stripping out the interior. It's going complete gut of the car so I started with the part of the car I don't know

So far I'm about 6 hours into doing the gut. I think I'm making good time. Would have been faster if my stereo guy didn't have all the wires for the mic and gps all tangled around everything under the dash. Any advice on removing the steering column and main dash shell? Also is there so secret to pulling the light panel on the front of the head liner?

Ok. Will do. Cars coming right down to the bare body shell so it'll be fairly thorough on what is getting done

Like mentioned above by Dave you need to open a Photobucket or similar picture hosting service account. Upload to there and post the img links in your posts. Then the pictures will appear in the posts.

Well I have gotten the dash pulled out. What an ugly job. Really would have helped if the guy who installed my deck and wired in my gauge packs did not have the wires wrapped around stock wiring and metal structure of the dash. I'm realizing that I'm glad I will be retiring the car as I put it back together.

I found out after getting the dash out I can't pull the heater box until I have the motor pulled out. So until then all the pedals, heater box and carpet are stuck in until the drivetrain is pulled in this next week or so.

So tomorrow we are going to pull the door handles, mirrors, mouldings and such. I'm hoping we can get the bumpers pulled, lights out and side skirts and such off before the end of the day.
The day after my plan is to start onto the mechanicals. Start with the radiator, intercooler then go from there.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm dropping the motor anyways so I'll leave that in until then. Lots of other projects to get finished before it's totally stripped down and ready to start being put back together.
Tonight after work the goal is get the bumpers, side skirts, window louvers, door handles and mirrors off the car and maybe get into pulling the rad and intercooler with all of their plumbing out

Well no progress was made at all yesterday. Was sent out of town by work. I'm hoping to get home tonight and get back at her. Beginning to wonder where my chassis guys are because it goes in for the moly cage in just under 2 weeks and I still haven't heard back from them but they were down racing. Hopefully they get back to me today.

Well finally got home today. Much later than planned. Still went to the shop and worked on the car for a bit. Didn't get too much accomplished but here you go. Got the car up onto jack stands, dropped the front rims. Fought with the front half of the inner wheel wells because the plastic push pins have been rubbed by the tires a few times and we're melted together. After pulling those out I dropped the front bumper and drained the intercooler and radiator. Pulled all the intercooler hoses and dropped the heat exchanger and pump out. Then removed the rad overflow tank and pulled both hoses off. Does anyone have any suggestions to make my life easier when pulling the front crash bracket? I'm swapping to a simple moly bar in its place as I don't require one by law here and even with the bolts pulled out (yes I pulled all 8) it won't come off. Any help?

What I ended up doing to remove the front crash bar was take the 4 bolts out on each side, then with a sawzall cut off on either side of the mounts, drill out the spot welds and where needed go to town with an air chisel.

Back at it again tonight. Didn't get as much accomplished as hope but still made decent progress on tear down. Dropped most of the exhaust, the driveshaft, both loops, pulled all of the intercooler lines out, and got all the wiring split from the underside of the motor. Would have liked to have gotten more accomplished but it is what it is.

Why are you using thumbnails for the pics? You should be able to use photobucket and post full size links.

Good luck with the build!
