I can machine whatever you dream up! I was head of R&D Fabrication at U.S. Highland Motorcycles before the owners were killed in a plane crash and it shut down. They would send me pics on a napkin from Sweden and say build this! I would then build it in solid works and send them a copy for approval. Once approved I would fab it up either by machining by hand, building a jig for a bike or 4 wheeler frame, welding etc. Then we would beat the shit out of it to see if it would hold up. It was the best job ever! I do the same now just different title. Im Project Manager and Production Manager at a different co now. :beerdrink:

It is indeed a sick car. It used to race in the GT3 series over in Europe.

Its to help pull air out of the engine bay so the front end will stay planted. With the air going past the tyre it should form a venturi in the engine bay hence pulling air out. At least in theory it should work like that but I may be wrong.

I was thinking that had to be it. But I see a lot of race cars put louvers through the fenders (above the tire) to vent the pressure built up by the spinning tire. I would think that the spinning tire/wheel well would be the high pressure zone and the engine compartment the lower pressure zone.

Of course that is irresponsible speculation.

I wish I had a aerodynamicist that I could ask these questions. Getting my car to go 225mph in the standing mile is going to be all aero. I want as many bites at the apple as possible.

Actually I forgot that the tyre well is a high press zone so you are probably spot on! I went back and looked at the pic and the hood is louvred up so the mesh may be letting that high press into the engine bay and the louvers could be pulling the air and heat out. The pic also shows louvers on a little wheel arch/spat at the front.

Upon further research... that car isn't the same one with the motor. Same team, but the motor is from their new car. To better understand their aero, here is a pic of the new car.

The back side of the fenders seems to be a giant outlet for air.
