As for what to do about it, you've got a couple options:
1. Buy an entirely new expensive wiring harness (not best option).
2a. Find someone with a junk wiring harness, harvest the block, and working *slowly* and *carefully*, move the good wires wires over one at a time. (Better option)
2b. Use the junk wiring harness to harvest the damaged wires, remove the damaged wires, match the replacements by gauge, and **solder** in the new ones, use heat shrink to seal. Don't crimp or use electrical tape.
The good think about Option #2 is that you're not limited to using a Ford Mustang Harness, but any Ford Harness with the same block. Also, check salvage yards since it don't need a serviceable harness. Only one with one block that you can harvest.
