I've got hot rods with my centri. It will lower your boost so you can pulley up and make more HP with less boost. No, they are not the best but they will certainly not hurt you at all. What I like about the hot rods is no low end torque loss at all which is a good thing with a centri(or turbo).

Uhhh....not sure I agree with that statement but to each their own.

Why not ? We are running the same blower with the same pulley. I seem to be making better torque on less boost than you. I mean I'm not trying to start a pissing match...just sayin.

Think the larger displaced engine has anything to do with that? I am also an automatic with 410 gears and an aftermarket TC which eats dyno numbers.

If I was going supercharger and wanted NSR cams I would get the Detroit Rocker Blower cams.
Not the regular Detroit Rockers... so the poster does not get confused.

But if I was staying NA I would get the Hot Rod cams.

Yes the 5.0 helps a little but probably no more than 20 ft/lbs. I didn't say the FRPP ones were the best....I just don't think they hurt. I'm only revving to 6500, but I think if I spun it to 6800 it would be putting down close to the same HP numbers as you. You also have ported heads looks like so that should equal things out.

Not saying they aren't but there is a thread with a couple of guys that have lost engines and the common denominator was they all had regrind cams.

So... hot rods + boost = no good? Even with a whipple/saleen or other PD blower?

It's more turbo that's a no go with hotrods. A pd or centri blower won't really be hurt by them... They just won't perform near as well as a cam made for f/I.

^this.

I'm not saying it won't work, or that it won't be a fast, nasty sounding car. Just saying if you are thinking about a turbo, the hotrods are a bad idea and they are questionable with a supercharger. It all depends on your goals. as far as the x + x = no good thing, there are very few things I will just say "that's fucking stupid" to, because everyone has different things in mind. Having a turbo car with hotrods and longtubes is a good example of something I would call stupid though. (I'm not talking about OP, I know he isn't looking at longtubes, just throwing an example out there.)
