This is one of those times when you really have to ask your self how far you want to go. The further you push the more 20-30hp more cost. JMO

^^^That's what I'm afraid of.....If I'm only going to gain hp then I'd be fine with going another LB of boost. If its going to allow me to rev to 7k then that would be a plus. Right now I only have the stock intake and its my understanding that they don't do much past about 650. I guess I could just pick up a FR intake mani.

Does anyone know at what point the stock cams/intake mani stop making power? I've never reved past 6k.

Another UPDATE:
13+ GT500 hat on order
Head Changing Kit
Cam/Timing Kit
FRPP Black Powder Coated Valve Covers

ANDDDDDD......

Picked up this!

IMO you will make more power with good cams. It's not a point of the stock cams not making any more power it's a matter of them impeding cylinder filling and not giving you the power you should be getting.

The cams I linked should work very well with a power adder. The lift is lower than others but the longer durations and wide lsa should allow for pretty good cylinder filling with a power adder force feeding the cylinders. I don't claim to be any kind of expert but I do understand the basics of cylinder filling. They would definitely be better than stock and the price is hard to beat.

Jason I run the Livernois springs because they told me the springs were good to .550 lift and would work fine with their phaser limiters. I went from a little over 500 rwhp with the stock cams and lockouts to 600 rwhp with the Comp cams and phaser limiters. This was with the same 15# safe street tune from Mike, just adjusted for the cams and limiters. Nothing else changed in my setup, same turbos and such, no wild timing or anything else.

So if I sell my cams now and get custom grind cams I would pick up more than the bbr stage 1 cams I have now?

Thanks for the info Bruce and posting the link to those cams.

Earl, I never really understood how your car only made 500whp at 15psi. Do you have a 8:1 CR or something? I'm wondering how much you would have picked up if you kept those cams locked out vs going to limiters.

I don't know but what you pick up is mostly on the top end, without the lockouts. The limiters allow the cams to still retard some, which picks up top end power. They also allow the tune to give you more on the low end so it's much better during normal street driving. I like the limiters better than the lockouts I had.

So mark at bullet said the cams Bruce linked would not be good for me. There is too much duration. That's stage 3+ livernois levels.

Like I said I'm not an expert by any means. I did think that the hot rod like durations combined with a 115 lsa would give you a mean sounding turbo cam that's not too hard on the springs. The 112 icl also means that they could be locked out and not give up much if anything on the top end.

Are you now thinking about cams more seriously?

He said I'd have back pressure issues with that much duration. That would be more suited for something like an 80+. I'm just assuming jeremy spec was higher since he has to spin two turbos. He gave me the 222/227 with .525/.525 @ 115.5.

I only live once and I said I was going to do it right. I'm going to do those cams with the pac springs since I can still use stock retainers.

Oh and since I just moved I found out that there is an e85 station across from my gym and two in between the gym and home. Yeahhhhh boyeeeee

I'm sure they will work out well I just can't afford to do it twice if you know what I mean.

Yeah I know man. Especially since youre set on running a certain time. Im in it for a mix of sound and power. Numbers dont mean much to me. Just a cruiser you know. Plus Im still on a budget build lol :dead2:

The turbo is going to chop up an cam sound unless you get a cam that will kill your power on a turbo car. The cams I am running right now don't have much noticeable sound with the turbo on the car, but here is a vid with just open headers and these cams. Also a pic of the cam card. I will try to get an idle vid this weekend with the new exhaust and turbo kit back on the car with these cams. Vids of the dyno runs can be seen in my build thread from page 24 on with the current cam setup.

Yeah I know. I'm running an open downpipe so it should be noticeable especially with 20 more duration. We will see though. Im gonna give them a shot
