Do you have an idea what the short block is going to cost you in total Jason?

I'm just figuring around 4-4500 for complete disassemble + assemble of mine with all the parts. That would be including purchase price of pistons and also the cobra crank.

Talked with the builder for a while last night while I was dropping the engine off. He's going to also do a little minor port work on the heads while he's in there. We pretty much settled on the Diamond Flat Tops. We also talked about if cams were even worth the cost rather than turning the boost up another pound or so. I'm still unsure what to do there.

Edit: ON ORDER: Diamond Pistons 30034 Flat Tops, H-13 .155 Wall Wrist Pins, and AP Total Steel Rings

Stay with the stock cams. No real benefit unless you want to move the curve or going for all out power...

Jason, I would only go cams if you go all the way, with springs and phaser mods. I am very happy with the results of my Comp cams. They are hardly noticeable at idle and driveability is great and I had big gains from them. The cams will increase your power through out the power band not just at the.

It's a fairly big cost. so you have to decide if you want to spend the money now. You can always add the cams later and get a new tune for them.

^^ Agree. Unless its a full time race car, spend the money on something else. Easier and cheaper to up the boost. The stock heads and cams have been proven to flow very well. But I do know you want to post those "garage" numbers.

I did custom grinds through RGR just so I could make the power I wanted at a lower boost level. 850 rwhp on e85 without having to go too nuts on the boost. You're going to need new valve springs anyway.

These cams should work very well with your turbo. The lift is low enough to use stock springs but you are going to want upgraded springs to go with boost and higher rpm.

The icl is 112 which means they are meant to be locked out or limited. The seller has limiters and phasers included with the cams. I think they are a very good buy at $400 for all. I'm tempted to buy them myself but I have nothing to put them on, lol.

How many psi did it take to get to 850?

Haven't even got the motor together yet, still waiting on the RA from machine shop. 850 tire is my goal so I'm hoping it shouldn't take a whole it of boost. With my turbo, cams, and e85 I'm hoping Lito can just dial up the timing a tad and I can hit 850.

As Jeremy said 850 wheel is over 20+. Fuel hit 700 with 19 I think through a 67. Wanting to hit 850 and doing it are 2 different things. Downpipe and a whole lot of other things will come into play. Not saying you can't do it, hell I may not even come close to 800, but thats just what I think I need to hit my mph goals.

Ok, I just got off the phone with Mark and he gave me a profile of 222/227 with .525/.525 @ 115.5. He also recommended either the 1233 or 1533 PAC springs. The 1533's are $200 more.......FML. Cams would run about $720.
