I know, Im just very upset with myself for the call on the copper head gaskets. I seem to very good at bypassing the KISS method.

Well look at it like this........when somebody asks if copper head gaskets are the way to go, you can kindly tell them to :chainsaw: :chainsaw:

of course they probably won't listen anyways cuz internet.:crazy:

Good grief man! I just caught up from the past couple days' updates. At least you have a good machine shop that can turn it out quickly for you, mine would be at least a month long wait. Then sorting your brakes out too..geez, well as stated above your car will be EPIC after you work through all this BS.

Yea, I have very good shop I use. I will take the block to him before noon tomorrow and he will have it done on Thursday or Friday for me. I already called and explained what happened and that I needed it fast and he said he would have it done no later then end of the day Friday. Rays Engine in Tyler, TX. Charlie Ray is the owner. Best guy you will ever deal with. Balancing is the only thing that takes a while as another guy that does that for him and that guy only does it part time.

Head was lifting looks like as well.

Yes, it sealed (there is a good impression on the back side of the gasket) then lifted and pushed the copper head gasket out its ass.

That's what I was thinking as well. It makes me think back to the whole re torqueing of the heads and the fact that when I indexed the studs and nuts prior to re torqueing the nuts, they yielded prior to reaching the index marks. I chalked it up to them not having fresh oil on the threads.

Either way, fuck copper head gaskets and re torqueing shit! I am milling the SS rings down .001 past the deck to give me a new surface to mount my new OEM Ford head gaskets on. This is two times at trying the almighty copper and two times equaling fail!

Is there a reason you don't use ARP ultra torque?

That seems to be an issue though when doing the recommended value at 100lb of torque. I have always done 100 with oil on my studs, only issue I have had is with these copper gaskets. No matter what I am going back to MLS gaskets and that is that. Fuck copper!

Hell ya! Just wait 'till you fix it! Can't believe that happened..
It sucks for sure but, when building a 12:1 motor on almost 22 psi, I expect to see the limits of certain things, I just didn't thing this was going to be one of them. This is supposed to be the ultimate setup for cylinder pressure, yea right! I will go on to find the limits of the stock gaskets now I guess. There are plenty of guys running 30+ psi on them with 9.0c/r so, we shall see.

I am glad you are still determined. I am tracking down minor issues compared to yours and I am frustrated as hell so I can only imagine how you feel brother.

I have had them to 25 psi. I was trying to get " the ultimate seal" but seems that is the good old stock gaskets as far as I can tell.

Good luck, it is very frustrating, I was actually sick to my stomach pulling the motor this time! Like to the point of being sick. I am so disgusted with these copper gaskets.

Woke up at 4:45 this morning with a short block tear down on my mind. By the time the wife and kid got up, I had the block tore down and left for the machine shop at 7:30 am.
