So no noise before the adjustable cam gears, correct? And thats the only thing that changed in the heads? Then thats where I would look for the noise. Also of course check all the followers and lash adjusters underneath.

He used the TFS gears. They are solid gears with offset keyways to change cam angle in relation to the crank.

Have you had Dan listen to it? He had a noise with that shortblock too. Did you check the piston to valve clearance? IIRC your heads were surfaced about .005" at one time. I'm also thinking the windage tray if it wasn't clearanced for a stroker.

Has a livernois windage tray. I think its making the same noise as it did when it was in dans car. The only thing I reused from dans setup was all of his timing shit... I bet the problem the whole time was a bad tensioner or something... the noise could be chain slap.

And the plugs look great.

Got a bad tensioner I think... tension is skipping when i crank by hand

Good to hear on both accounts! I replaced my tenionser and chains with oem 3v stuff when I built my motor and have had good luck with it.
