Hello everyone, I just have a quick question as to what the threaded hole is for on the passenger side cylinder head, back corner, exhaust manifold side. It appears in my borescope to be casted shut but definitely looks like something should be threaded in there. Any help would be much appreciated.

Grounding strap on the passenger side would be on the motor mount stud. On the driver side it should be to the block itself and not the head.

There's a few "odd" holes and such on the blocks and heads that I suspect are used for different things depending on the configuration of the components when the engine is build. My guess is they use a common casting and the 4.6l configuration just doesn't have a need for that.

Take a picture of it and put it on your workbench so it can drive you crazy. :)

Isn’t their a bracket that supports the heater hoses bolted on there somewhere.
That's on the direct back of the head, this is like off of the corner where the bore goes out the same direction as the exhaust mani. I assume it's some provision for a different 4.6 model or something, I've looked through all of the Ford PTS Workshop and can't find a single thing that it goes to for the early S197's.

I remember now. The Roush blower kit has two hard line sections for the intercooler that bolt into that location. Left side between the exhaust manifold and valve cover. Nothing there from Ford.
