Update
Well guys the mods have started! Lets just say Santa way very good to strokerjr.
Yesterday we installed the FRPP cams. All was good till we started it. HAHA It was missing or something, so I took the covers back off and all looked good. I put it back together and after several hours of troubleshooting I was done for the day. I had even removed the front cover thinking the chain had slipped as Mason was holding it. It had not though and I buttoned it all back up last night. This morning while he was at work I started trouble shooting again. I bought a noid light and checked all the injector and COP plugs to verify there was power to everything and there was. I was thinking maybe we were dealing with a broken wire or something. Everything checked out fine though. So for the hell of it I changed the plugs and what the fuck do you know, the damn car started and ran fine! I don't know how a plug goes out by removing it and reinstalling it, but it happened.
Anyway it is running and Manuel is looking at the data logs tonight. Tomorrow we will bolt up the BMR LCAs and relocation brackets. Then next weekend the FRPP 4:10 gears will go in. I have all the bearings he will need except the large pinion bearing and we will pick one up this week. Also next week we will install a FRPP CAI. Then the mods will slow for a little while till the machine shop is done. I was able to pick up some parts before Christmas that we were not planning on till this summer, but with all the deals out there I couldn't help myself. We have an 04 alum. block that is getting bored .030 over along with a stock crank, Eagle forged H beams, and Manley 11:1 .030 coated flattop pistons at the machine shop getting prepped and balanced. In a couple weeks I will pick it all up and we will build his first built motor together. Unlike mine, his will be built more to stock specs as far as the clearances are concerned. I was also able to pick up a set of Steeda under drive pulleys and a set of ARH 1 3/4" to 2 1/2" headers and a 3" O/R x pipe with fake cats.
So for those that are keeping track that should get up to the 400rwhp we are wanting NA with the extra C/R. We will see. We also plan to add a Circle D 3000 stall and a billet input shaft when we put the SB and headers in the car. I think that should hold him for a while till he can save for a Whipple in 1.5-2 years after he saves for that. He has been working and saving and bought the gears and CAI his self and is now saving for the stall and input shaft. We have been able to pick everything up used from right here on the forum except the block. It came from a place in Denver. So far this has been fun with the exception of our first stressful install with the cam. I will post a few pics and a video of the cam/exhaust later.
