I just thought Id share what happened on my #2 piston, looks like crap. My cam seems to be fine there are only scratches on that particular lobe. once that was completed I changed out the oil and fired it up, and NO TICK!:evillaugh:

I replaced my lifter and follower from trick flow. The trick flow followers are indeed beefier than the stocks, I would recommend to anyone replacing them. the bad followers roller broke prob from the inside since it was pushed down into the follower that explains the indention seen. Why this happened idk maybe it wasn't seated properly before buttoning up.

*****I know I posted this in another thread but I was involved in both of them. *****

So you got the followers and lifters from trick flow? You happen to have some part numbers?

Same thing happened to me last summer at about 69K on the clock, only mine did a little more damage. I ended up having the entire head/cam assembly replaced. It didn't drop a valve, nor were there any shavings in the oil pan.

That looks like you either had a bad rocker or perhaps a factory flaw in the head. Those holes for the lash adjusters are weak to begin with. There does not appear to be any abnormal wear on the underside of the rocker(or adjuster) indicating it had been "wobbling" for any period of time...or loose.

Looks like whatever happened there happened instantaneously. My .02

Sorry to bring back an old thread but my car just starting ticking this week. And it sounds exactly what has been described here but curious if anyone has any updates on their cars after replacing the followers and if the ticking did indeed go away so far?

Ill be pulling the valve cover today to check it out, im sure i wont find anything good with the car having 129k on it. Guess its about that time to start replacing some motor parts anyways.

Ken and I were talking about this just yesterday at the track. Even before any ticking, his followers started developing tiny cracks--so he replaced them all with the stock ford factory pieces at 60K miles. I know Mark replaced all his with Jesel stuff---but that is expensive, like $2,500 expensive. I don't recall how much the new factory stuff was.

So, how are these different from the stock pcs. ? ( question is for anyone)

Ok still haven't fixed my problem, but its gotten worse and i need the followers either way. So if someone has the answer to this, that would be awesome. The car has started to backfire pretty bad after every shift so im sure something is about to go very wrong.

Well parts came shortly after I posted that. I pulled over the driver side cover where i was sure the sound was coming from but I dont see anything out of the ordinary. Nothing is burnt up, no crazy marks on the lobes, all the followers look just fine. Im so confused.
