Hope this is the right place to post this. Hey everyone I have a 07 GT/CS with 68k miles stock shocks struts and Im about to throw on the eibach sportlines. My question is how long will the stock shocks/struts hold up with those sportlines?? I understand "do it right or do it twice" but let me make it clear that I dont mind doing it twice. The reason Im not doing the shocks/struts with the eibachs all at the same time is im waiting to find a good deal on some. Will the stock ones hold up for another 10k miles? Thanks everyone!

Forgot to mention panhard bar and CC plates are going on with the springs. Just not shocks/struts

At 70k miles on your car, the shocks/struts are already probably near their end of their good life. I wouldn’t expect much more than 80k out of OE dampers, on aftermarket springs I would expect way less. They don’t just stop working, they wear out over time. And over that time you don’t realize how bad they have gotten until you put new ones in, you accelerate that wear with aftermarket springs.

We had the stock struts/shocks with Eibachs when we first got the car with 50k. It rode horribly over rough rodes. Switched to Koni STR.Ts and it was a world of difference.

If you want a great deal on some awesome springs and koni's look at BMR's sale, Kelly will take great care of ya.

If you want just struts and shocks give us a shout. Its a great opportunity to take advantage of the koni sale.

Let's be realistic here. You can drive on the Eibach springs and stock struts/shocks for 10k miles without any problems. It's just not optimal.

Actually, that's exactly what I did... added the Konis about a year after I installed the Eibach springs on my car. No problem with the stockers, but the Konis sure do handle better!

You can also track a car on blown struts without any problems. It's just not optimal... ;-)

If total dollars invested is a factor (and it is for 99% of us!), you're better served getting it all done in one shot. That saves wear and tear on components (two sets of strut bolts) and also eliminates the need for a second alignment. That sounds to me like roughly $150 in savings on parts and rack time, but even more if you don't do the work yourself. Given that you have high-mileage struts to begin with, you're really rolling the dice on how long they'll hold up under the extra duty with the lowering springs. I think the general consensus is that the stock struts will be about end-of-life at around 50K-60K. You're past that now, and the Koni sale is what you've been waiting for. If it were me, I wouldn't put the parts on the car until I had everything I needed to do the job correctly and complete.

RIP - You will be missed
At almost 70k miles, if I was going to do springs and shocks/struts separately, I'd do the shocks and struts first.

Come to think, that's what I did at 15k.

Damn! I didn't even realize the stock ones sucked so bad and wore out that soon. I've been on the pro kit since I bought the car pretty much. I've got 99,600 miles on the car right now and can't wait to finally get these koni's and MM plates installed soon. I knew the car rode like crap but didn't think the stocks wore out that soon. I'm wwwaaayyyyy overdue for a new set.

My suspension is bone stock currently and over the last 2K miles became a floaty, clunking, crappy riding POS. It's funny because I'm RIGHT at 49,XXX and everyone I talk to says 50k is around the time the OE suspension starts to bite the bullet.

I'm dropping my car off tonight at my techs house to get koni sports/ steeda UL springs, and my other suspension stuff installed. Hoping that solves some of the issues (while helping the handling! )
