Cylinder 8 was losing 11%, 4 was losing 4%. This is the plug from #8...

This is the MMR block w/about 6k miles on it. Plugs are 6 months old, injectors are less than a year, about 25 - 30 1/4 mile passes. Any guesses before we rip it apart? With this amount of leakage, is it safe to drive the car around town/freeway? Does this thing really have to be torn down again? How do I fix it? Can it be tune related? Why would #8 go lean and not the others? Am I really fucked?

#5 and #8 run the hottest. They are the first ones to detonate.

I've pulled plugs like that, but it never did run the same afterwards. Upon further inspection, after removal and teardown, cylinder walls showed excessive scoring, and the piston looked like shit for lack of a better word. And I noticed the chrome on the top ring on every cylinder pealed or flaked off.

I can post a picture when I get home next week.

What a freaking bummer man. Who has a link to compression and leakdown tools for our cars and how do you do a leakdown test?

He wants me to ask you if you think that this is a tune problem or something that happens with MMR blocks? And can he keep driving around like that? Don't shoot the messenger.

What fuel system? I think #8 gets the least fuel when the system is maxed also. A new set of plugs will make things much better even with a small compression leak. My money is on a bad tune.

Put new plugs in it and drive it.........then sell it..........or fix it.

Yes it is tune related. There is no such thing as a 1000hp engine or a 2000hp engine. Detonation will kill them ALL. Some just quicker than others.

The thing that kills me is that I took the F'ing thing to 2 differnet tuners and even had one "try" to fix the tune just 3 months ago. Why wasent he able to see something going on? I have the twin gt pumps and 60lbs injectors and 90% of the time I raced I mixed my 91 with 100.. I just cant believe I have to rebuild a built motor after 6K miles!. This is BS. I lost the car from the fuck up of a tuner and now I'm losing it again? How can I prove its the tune? There was someone that lost his motor not too long ago and it was from the same tuner. He did something to the mapping to give "extra" hp. I think he did that same thing to mine.. but Can I take my car to another tuner and have them check everything?

Twin GT pumps doesn't mean squat unless done correctly. They need to be in a GT 500 basket, twin FPDM's and proper plumbing. The guy at ST's dyno day had the cheapo twin GT pump "bandaid" setup from Brenspeed and ran out of fuel at 500 hp. From what I hear, your last tuner doesn't know what he is doing and he is a flat out liar about the hp/tq he claimed to have made with your car.

I had the twin pumps installed at ST under a year ago. The car hasbeen tuned by Adam and then Ravi at SFI. The I had Ravi check the tune again because of these issues 3-4 months ago. No one said anything about fuel issues.

YES! When I trashed my plugs with and octane booster, it would misfire in the mid to upper RPM ranges at WOT and it NEVER threw a code.

I datalogged mine to get to the bottom of it, and pulled the plugs and sure enough, they were all trashed. 2 in particular were bad enough that I couldn't make out the electrode anymore.

So, have you pulled the plugs yet? What are you waiting for :idea:

Not to hijack Teds thread but Stanley called me this am told me about Teds issues... I quickly pulled my plugs cuz Ted and I have almost the same tune (same tuner, with that added kick impedded to the tune) So here are my 9 Spark plugs...please note that I cleaned # 1 spark plug about a week ago, and have driven the mustang about5-6 six times this week. On the top center you can see what the whole plug looked like. That Chalky white look.

Plug nine looked normal

BTW Ted, you have my full support just let me know... I got 4 free tows again this year

Take your car to other tuner and get them started from scratch. Get some new plugs, put it on a tow truck, return the car back to stock tune and get them to start from scratch. I've seen people trying to fix a tune and sometimes it doesn't work. Just get one from scratch.

Can you post the graph of your cast dyno tune or a data log?

Yea we do need to talk.. you guys feel like coming down on a Sunday and helping me pull the motor out and get it on the stand so the heads can come off.. If I can finally prove 100% it was his tune... he is going to court!

BTW he didn't have me fill the paper out. There is a few others he has screwed over like this.. I wounder if we can file a class action law suit against them.

Ted what did the other plugs look like? And also, Summit Racing has our plugs at 9.95 apiece. That was the cheapest I've found and I called all over the place.

BTW I should probably change my Sig a bit eh???

How did you get nine spark plugs? Haha no more beer for you mr. ;-)

The good news is you n/a so maybe no real damage.
