If you've got a CAI, you could always use blue oil on the air filter instead of the red. And maybe a blue silicone sleeve where the intake tube meets the throttle body

Autozone has a buy the Duralast brake discs, get the ceramic pads for free. While the dealership replaced the pads at 110K, prior to selling to me@ 112K (now at 115K), I couldn't pass up the opportunity to replace the 17 y.o. rusted discs, getting "free" ceramic pads in the deal. I also took the opportunity to "rebuild"...(read high-temp rattle can metallic silver paint) the caliper bracket and caliper frame, and have new rear brakes. Gonna order the front slotted/drilled discs, getting the front pads for free, as well. The deal is until the 4th...

With the before pic, there's no doubt she sees salt, but man silver paint makes a huge difference

As 86GT said, it's spent its entire life in Louisiana. See my response to his thread, below.

Yeah, I bandied about red (overdone, IMO), black, Vapor Silver, etc....but settled on metallic silver. Went with the Krylon Fusion, and I think it turned out great.

He's in Louisiana so it's a High Humidity state
Yup, Baton Rouge specifically. The car was originally delivered and sold in Baton Rouge (Robinson Brothers Ford, built and delivered to dealer inventory on 4/18/2008) and stayed local, its entire life. I am the third owner and actually purchased used from...you guessed it...Robinson Brothers Ford. The first owner was (apparently) a young man who documented all the oil changes and maintenance in the owners' manual as "XXXXX and Dad". The documentation is meticulous. Just like I would have done it. One of the things that sold me on this particular car. The fact that it's a 5-spd and the rare-ish Vapor Silver paint are the others. The "Jack Roush" dual color seat trim(s) was/were an added bonus.

Apparently, the first owner traded it in for a Subaru (at the local Baton Rouge Subaru dealer) and the second owner bought it there. They only put 2K miles on it, in two years. Probably because it rode like an un-dampened carriage @ 110K miles. Quite loud and clunky.

I bought it after the second owner traded it in for a 2024 Mustang GT. I got it for an extremely reasonable price, as it needed quite a bit of suspension love, with 112K on the clock. After replacing the struts and shocks (with KYBs, to keep a stockish but with a bit of an upgraded ride), along with the front and rear swaybar bushings, it now rides great.

Some additional history, on this forum:

Ah, my bad. I was going off not just the rust but what looks like salt residue all over the underbody.

Props on going with something a little different w/ the paint

Finally decided to stop pushing my luck & replaced the clutch starter interrupter switch before I got stranded w\ a no start situation (original 15 yr old switch was known to be getting burned out........had the MC replacement switch in hand for the last 1 1\2 yrs but kept saying to myself............"not yet".

Feels good to not have to hunt for the "spot" no more..................

Replaced the cam phasors because I had a rough idle occasionally with a very intermittent phasor-related DTC code, and because I drive the fk outta this thing (yet somehow my factory clutch managed to survive 150k miles.)

My driver side phasor was the one giving me trouble, but swapped them both out. Then did a compression check just for shits and giggles and found my #1 cyl is at 160 psi. haha, whoops. All others are at 210-220 but I think #1 is just a dirty exhaust valve. The cylinder wall cross hatching looks impeccable. Ready for another 150k. Good yard.

..Also peep that gold color hahaha that's what I get for running 5w20 like Ford told me to do :angry1:

I bought upper and lower leather seat cover replacement for the driver side along with the new foam. Then I had a local auto upholstery shop do the seat. Of course I removed the seat from the vehicle and reinstalled it. Even then the upholstery guy showed me there was a couple things t hat had to be corrected on the covers, extra cost of course. Worked for me though.

Just finished my gussied up catch can setup tonight.

So I have had this Mishimoto catch can for a few years, but I hated the way I had it installed. I had the hose from the intake manifold going straight across to the can, so when the engine moved it pushed on the mount (which was admittedly pretty flimsy) and kept loosening up all the fasteners.

So, I fabbed a stouter bracket for the can to attach to (along with a better bracket for the can that I found on ebay) and decided to do some braided hose the "right" way (more or less).

I got an idea for the manifold side while looking at fittings and rigged this up.

Here you can see where I took a -10 AN flare fitting and cut the side out of it- just the right size to sqeeze on over the nipple on the manifold, and it has a small flange on the back side that can't slip down over the lip on the nipple. I also took a male -10 AN coupler and drilled out one side to 5/8" ID so it would slip on over the nipple.

Flare nut and adapter installed. I put some silicone inside the AN adapter to help seal it, not sure how well it will actually seal, will have to see after I start driving it again.

The finished product. I like how it came out. I still have to take it back apart to cut a couple ears off the mount near the strut tower and paint it all.

Not the mustang, but figured this was worth posting.

Doing a larger overall job to my Tacoma, and was installing Stop Tech stainless braided brake lines. Was amazed how little the brake lines fought me when removing them, but print the new ones on was another matter. One side slipped into the bracket nice and easy, but the line for the other side I couldn't get to seat for the life of me.

Then I took a second look at the shape of the ends on the original lines... Yeah they're not the same. Note that one is just a circle with the sides clipped off, and the other is like a cat eye. But the stainless fittings are both circular. Time to fire up the angle grinder... (Just used the edge of a cutting disc to reshape into a cat eye)

Not sure if the mustangs are the same way, but hey I learned something today.

Here's the cat eye

The upper connector is similar to the Mercedes type. I used my old hoses as a plug for future repairs. I cut the hose in half and pressed hot glue inside.

Finally got these delivered yesterday..................ordered them back in November, 2024 but been on back order at Maximum Motorsports until recently...............

Now waiting on my Stop Tech Evolution Z17 '09 OEM GT500 Ceramic Rear Brake kit to get here (same rear brake pads I installed with initial 07-09 OEM GT500 "Brembo" Front Brake kit 2-3 yrs ago prior--RR brake pads wore faster than I anticipated thus got into the rotor before I caught it) so's I can get all this installed while replacing rear brake pads & rotors.
