Got my Kirkey 45 series seat. Looks just like Marc's seat. Sat it in for a few hours watching TV and it was comfortable and nothing hurt after getting out of it.

I finished building my 1/4" aluminum fixed seat mounts and installed the seat. I still have to build a rear seat brace though.

Were you able to use sliders? I had to install mine in a fixed position to get them low enough without building a custom bracket.

Going to try mine out today.

Vorshlag made a custom slider for the seat. They are planning on making more for sale. However, I don't know when they might be available.

Did they have to do the "tall driver mod" for you too? I know Ryan modified some stuff for my head to fit using the slider, and I'm only 5'10"

Not with the sparco sliders-planted brackets and cobra side mounts. They were way too high. I did away with the sliders, modified the planted brackets and drilled a couple extra holes, here and there and I got them to the correct position.

EDIT: I auto x'd today and I must say that "The amount that the Corbeau CR1s are better than the stock seats, then thats how much better the Cobra Imolas are over the CR1s." Now don't get me wrong, for spirited street driving the Corbeaus are great, and very comfortable. But the rigidity of the Cobras are great.

If you want a slider call Terry.

That's odd I'm 6 foot and tall in the torso and with the pad removed I sit perfect in my recaro with sliders and side mounts

Every set-up is a little different : Brand A might have a better floor bracket, and Brand B might have a thinner slider, and Brand C might have a goofy side mount bracket set-up that leaves an inch of height on the table. And I like racing with a seat pad in place, personally, but that can gain you 2" or more in extra height. In most cases what we see that is "off the shelf" is lacking in headroom for most drivers with helmets, though.

This BMW/Recaro install took custom bracketry, a slimmer slider, and all sorts of mods to get headroom for this 6'3" driver

We've seen all manner of seat combinations in all manner of cars, and it is easy to run out of head room in a hurry, especially if you are above 5'10" and/or have a long torso and/or with a racing helmet on top and/or on some cars with sunroofs (which gobble up nearly 2" inches of headroom on BMWs).

One of these days I'll have some pictures actually uploaded of what we are making for the S197 and will post it here.

I run the planted seat bracket, recaro slides and side mounts. And I still have the ability to lower the seat and use the cushion.

This thread makes me want to get rid of the factory seats. I hate the lack of bolstering. I slide in my seat even when doing some light spirited driving.

My knees are bruised from the last autox from bracing myself, I had stock leather seats :chainsaw:

Recaro's are waiting to be installed...

How are you guys dealing with the width of the bottom of some of these seats?

I was thinking about getting a Sparco Evo 2, but I just went to see if I could fit a 21" wide seat (at the thighs) and it just doesn't seem like there's room to keep the seat centered on the wheel *and* fit against the center console.
