What? I always heard x pipe with straight through mufflers sounds raspy with no tone. How about h pipe with straight throughs?

A; it depends on who's listening.

B; I also think cats/no cats makes a difference.

But at the end of the day what I like can be completely different that what you like. I call it raspy, you call it nasty. It's all good.

I have stock cats, canister/stinger mufflers and an H, I love the sound. My wife's car sounded bad with stingers and the X. Put chambered mufflers on, it sounds awesome,,,,,, to me.

I have stingers + O/R H + resonators and it sounds amazing. No rasp and cut the drone of the O/R H + Stinger combo way down

X vs. H

Many say that the X provides more HP, however, there have recently (don't have link) been some shops testing the difference on the dyno and showing that this isn't true. It may be true on some cars, but on the S197, the debate goes both ways.

That said, like many are saying the X will provide a much more raspy and aggressive sound. Also as many are saying, and H sounds MUCH better with chambered mufflers. I am running an O/R X with American Thunder AB's and it does sound good while punching it...but when you let off the throttle it sounds like apes being raped by godzilla...not clean at all...

If you run straight through mufflers, go X. If you run chambered mufflers, go H. HP difference really shouldn't even be considered IMHO.

I was running an x pipe with MACs and I had resonators as well. It sounded good. I didn't think it was raspy at all. Maybe slightly higer pitched than an h-pipe. Yesterday I installed SSS terminators. They are a little quieter and have a smoother at idle and just as loud at WOT.

pypes X here with stingers and I can say the sound is awesome..... had an H prior which was ok but with the x its a beast.... IMO go with x.... good luck.
