For those that have built 5r55s trans or PI muti disc converters.
I have a vibration or hashness at around 3000 rpm in every gear . This only happens in drive and not while in park so I can rule out the motor as the cause, but when in drive it does it threw every gear . My PI converter is at a 3500 stall speed and I have a built trans . Has anyone with either one of these componets noticed any vibration or "harshness" at certain rpms?

I have a built 5R55s and a PI converter.

Nothing like you describe. The only thing weird in my combo is when the car shifts into o/d, it lurches as the converter grabs. But that is not every gear, just o/d, and while cruising. Under acceleration it shifts like it should.

Mine does that as well in O/D But the vibe at 3000 or so doesnt feel correct.

I had something like that when i put in a PI 2800 and 4:30's. not sure the exact RPM but im pretty sure it was around 2500-2800 and my car just wined like a bit*h. it ended up being the gears. Is it coming from the back of the car?

While there are issues right now with the "slop" the true track and the Moser axles have this doesnt feel like the rear it is in every gear at about 3000 and has nothing to due with speed like a rearend problem would.

thats true. not sure. maybe you might want to drain the fluid and make sure theirs no metal shavings in there which obviously would be an indication of a much larger problem. Tough to say though w/o actually hearing the noise. hope you get it straightened out

May do that . There is no noise though and it runs well at WOT but when cruiseing through the gears it vibes.

I also have a built 5R55S and PI 3500 TC. I have not noticed any symptoms at all like you describe. Nice and smooth on the street and track, throughout the rpm range in all gears.

PI converter and nothing like that. I've got the same "lurch" that everyone else described when going into O/D.

Talked to Tony today and he said for me to start checking things like the flexplate (bent or loose) , the TC bolts and the mount and that there shouldnt be anything that would vibrate in the trans like I descibe . He also said that the in may be in the converter and that may be why I only fell it under load (forward gears) and not in nutral or park. Looks like I may get to pull the trans. but we will hope for loose TC bolts for now.
