True, Test and Tunes have you sign a waiver, problem is that they tend to get crowded. I would prefer if we piggyback on an event that it's a smaller one like COOTC. It would be eaiser to control our own group events. So I am in or looking in to Insurance...

there are several Single day event insurance companies we can check into. when we get together we can go over the insurance companies. BTW The Tracks will always have racers sign a waiver, so the insurance is to protect the Event committee.

We can ask Ceece what he does for NVMC private drag events. I know he told me insurance was included in the cost for the day.

im definately in for class D since i dont have a stock motor

Did you ever sell that stock block? You can drop it in for the day... LOL

We will look into what classes we can run. If 8-9 second cars will get the mags out there, I will put it on the table for discussion for sure.

There is no need to worry about insurance since there is no sanctioning body involved. I founded the SSOTN Nats series back in the late 90's and we never had any problems. The track has it's own insurance. We are really just putting together a test and tune with some basic classes, nobody is racing for money here. I will speak with the guy running the SSOTN Nats now but I think we could run with them in April at Cecil.

Bill, that's good to know. If is just a track rental, it will make things much easier.

Yep, just a track rental would be great! Heck, if we get some extra money, we could do a bbq also.

We ran fun "classes" at many of the SSOTN events over the years. Basically all the S197 participants would go in lanes 1-2 and all the other test and tune cars would be in the other lanes. All the S197s would be called together. We would have to keep ourselves organized so we don't slow anything down.

The Nats normal fee is $50 a car for the event since it is private and keeps the car counts down. I would say everyone chips in another $10-15 to cover the cost of trophies. I would keep the "classes" very simple

NA stock motor
NA modified motor
PA stock motor
PA modified motor
S197 Extreme

Have a minimum weight in each class to keep out gutted race cars (except extreme), etc. Obviously the rules would have to be gone over and will remain very loose to keep it as fair as possible. Keep in mind no matter what the rules someone will not like them. It is part of running an event like this. I would run this event along with SSOTN for 2009. If we get a good turnout then maybe a full out S197 Shootout the following year or even the fall of 2009. Our own private track rental for S197 cars only.

I say lets do it in Kansas City. That pretty much puts it in the middle of the country, and gives people west of ...well hell, west of anything since you are only talking about east coast. But anyway, that gives people further west at least the opportunity to think about trying to show up.

Maybe if this is a hit.. we can have an S197 East Coast Shootout, West Coast shootout and Mid America shootout. then you would be included

Yes

That is fair. THIS should be the way it is if it is truly going to bring everyone in. I would show if it were in the middle of the country.

Or.. maybe we can start with a West Coast or Mid America and if they are a hit we could do an East Coast. Since all the Admins (and most of the Mods) are either Mid or West.

On a more serious note, John (who lives on the east coast) thought it would be a great idea to have an "East Coast NA Shoot Out". He is the main orginizer at this point. I know everyone is really excited and I would love to see as many members as possible come out, but we seem to be loosing sight of the original concept of the "East Coast NA Shoot Out".

If we have a successful Spring, maybe we can talk him into putting together a National event in the center of the country in the Fall or next Spring. Lets get through the pilot program first.

shoot! I'm sorry. I had not read the first page in a while and jumped to "first unread' and then chimed in.

You are exactly right, sorry for my off topic post.
