06LimeGT, thanks for the additions, luckily I have all of those things you mentioned.

I'll be going with the Stainless Power LT's (stainless works "economy" brand... For us cheap asses lol). Any words of advice specific to these headers?

I watched the CJ Pony Parts install video. They give a list of parts that you will need.

I did mine on jack stands in my garage.

The worst part for me was crawling on the floor all day and getting up and down so much. Was really sore afterwards and my hands and arms looked like I put them through a meat grinder. It is not hard. Just tedious. It helps a lot to have an extra set of hands. I have the ratcheting wrenches that make it easier if you decide to do it.

I guess I just assumed that since there's more space on the sides of the motor it would be easier... didn't think about all the shit underneath.

I'm getting too old to spend 17 hours on the garage floor. If I ever go with LT's, I'd have to find a lift to use for 1/2 a day.

Its cake. If you have a hard time (or think its too much work) doing them, then working on cars isn't for you. I've done 2 JBAs and a Pypes and the procedure was the same. I didn't time how long it took, but it took me a days worth of work stopping to eat a couple times. Its easy as shit, ESPECIALLY compared to a fox or SN95.

If you've done them on an SN-95, it should be a piece of cake. It took my buddy and I 8 hours and a dozen beer to do a set of longtubes on a 99GT.
I haven't done it on one of these cars but it really doesn't look that hard to me. So far, I'd rate the S197 mustang as by far the easiest of the 3 modern mustang platforms to wrench on.

Unbolt the starter for the RH header and loosen the steering column for the LH one and it will ease the job.

Just got mine installed at a shop along with new mid pipes with resonators welded in. It took the guy 6 hours.
Sounds great but maybe a bit too quiet with the resonator, I may go with a muffler delete now. love it though! they are never coming off! lol

I did LTs on my 2000GT - about 6.5 hours. The new body has so much more room on side of the manifolds. I can't imagine those saying the S197 is hard or time consuming has done a SN95 install. I also think the suspension is easier to work on...make that the whole car.

I'm with you on that one. I was on platelet reducing medication - causes you to bruise easily. I looked like someone had run over my arms, backed up and ran over them again.

Took me about 12 hours - taking my time. It was probably the least enjoyable modification I've made - slowly turning bolts - some one click at a time.

But the result... amazing!!!

American Racing Headers LT's took 6hrs to install, just do it, you'll be glad you did! I'm wanting to install some electric header exhaust openers next.. curious of how loud LT's will be uncapped ..

So I started the install last night and I'm 5 nuts away from getting the passenger side manifold off, but called it a night. I just wanted to see how many people actually reused the stock studs and nuts or if everyone swaps out for the bolts that stainless works supplies.

I reused the stock studs, nuts and gaskets. Leak free for about 2 years now. I used a couple of the supplied bolts where there was not enough clearance to get a stud in there though.

I re used most of the stock studs. I think it was the drivers side where i used two bolts because the studs were long enough they hit one of the primaries.
