Tonight I changed my oil for the first time. The exact capacity wasn't verified on the initial fill because I had a large spill due to a missing oil galley plug and had no way of determining the exact capacity. I assumed since it was labeled "8.5 quart oil pan" that it would hold 8.5 quarts plus about a half quart for the filter, but that isn't the case. Seems an even 8 quarts fills it just above the full mark. I drove it to dinner and checked it when I got back to make sure.

Can someone get a measurement from the flange to the drain plug?

I think the depth is almost exactly the same as stock. You can see in Bruce's picture how the extra width and length of the deep end of the pan accounts for the extra volume.

IIRC it was exactly the same depth. Ford really did their homework on this part, the fitment is right on the money.

Quick question on this pan:

Did you reuse the OEM dipstick tube and dipstick, or does this require a different one?

OK!
My turn for the question.
I opened my box, counted bolt holes, counted bolts.

16 holes drilled in the pan
20 bolts shipped

WTF?

Any chance you could take some measurements in regards to oil drain plug?
I am hoping it is lower or farther back from my CHE Torque limiter bar.
So I don't have to cut a drain plug, and gain extra capacity.

Yes, with the BMR K member you just unbolt the steering rack and push it aside. Two bolts. No need to mess with motor mounts or jack up the engine.

I'm curious how you pulled this off. I too have the T56 magnum and I had to unbolt the rack and jack up the motor an inch and remove the bottom 3 bolts on the scatter shield to clear the scatter shield with the pan.

I too have the BMR K member. Maybe mine is a newer K member and has a different height?

I got extras as well. They are nice bolts, I'm sure you'll find a use for them somewhere.

Drain plug should be located in exactly the same place as the stock oil pan drain plug.

Mine is the current style with the 1/2" lower motor mounts. I had no problem sliding my old oil pan out and the new one in. Maybe I just got lucky?

scattershields are generally larger than the bell housings because of the stamped housing that bolts to that thick ass plate. I installed pullmeoverorange's t56 magnum but I honestly don't remember how much bigger it was than a stock one.
