Seeing a few guys blow the stock oil pump gears on basic blower kits had my mind made up. $270 for the MMR gears and one extra weekend for the labor. I also spent about $20 for new seals for peace of mind, crankshaft seal, engine cover seals, ect, + $13 for the MMR crank bolt.
I made it to page 17 on the Paxton build then switched over to removing the oil pump gears. Already had coolant drained, fan out, ect. I thought about it and decided to do it now than later when it would take even longer since the blower will be on it. Also it's not really all that bad so far. Font pulleys come off + belts, tstat housing, waterpump, coil packs, valve covers, alternator, engine cover, set timing, timing chains, then out comes the oil pump. Add fresh billet gears, some seals, gasket maker, and put it back together. I'm having fun so far lol
My buddy gave me shit because he said you only need the billet gears for 650+hp and it's a waste of time unless your building the motor. I don't agree with that since I've literally talked to a few guys that blew the gears doing log runs on a few stock supercharged cars. Long story short the motor is now hurt because of zero oil pressure at 600hp, oil pump housing is destroyed as well. No thanks lol. Sure they might of been 1-3 reported people out of thousands...but it's one less thing to factor in going wrong.
