When this became an election? ;-)

Now? so they prefer using dry cooper instead of the proper "sticky" cooper?

i bought and gave them felpro gaskets that already come with some amount of sticky on them. so i would like to think sticky like my buds !

My vote is to cut your losses now. Imagine if you have issues with their work? I mean at this point I would be worried about the quality of their product from they rushing to get it done

Just my OCD talking

This shop did top notch work on my first two motors, which is the only reason I've stuck it out this long. I think I'm going to go get my stuff though, I've had enough. The problem is they take care of their bread and butter work, all the pro-mod motors and offshore racing boats, my motor is little BS work for them.

i called my peeps today to check in , and they said the
oil pump gears that "they said they had in stock" came in wrong from
vendor, they told me they sent pumps only . then they told me it will be
done next Wednesday AGAIN .
week 7 coming up !
once you give any money your are a hostage , it really sux ass .
on a good note they told me he got the copper sprayed on the
head gaskets , LMFAO .

^^now that's scary!

Lito likes using diablo sport for tuning purposes better

I kid.

That does suck. It's not just a machinist but one with engine experience and the right equipment.

My current shop is getting caught up reportedly, and guaranteed me that my motor will be done next week so I decided to give it one last try, especially since if I pulled everything and brought it somewhere else it would take longer than that.

On another note, one of the other problems I have with waiting so long is I keep thinking of more stuff to do, you know how that goes, "well I might as well go ahead and do x-y-z while everything is apart." Most recently I decided to buy a little insurance by ordering some bad ass exhaust valves, Ferrea Super Alloy series. I've got to get my motor back together soon so I can stop this madness!

Okay so here's the latest round of bullshit. I received the new locks for my new exhaust valves today and mocked them up to take a look, what I found is these valves have an extra tall tip, supposedly makes them stronger. I called Ferrea and they said "oh yea the book says those valves require our special seat locators and valve springs." I ask what are the specs on your springs, how would I know if they're compatible with my cams, etc.? They tell me "oh yes our springs are compatible with all cams up to .500 lift, how much lift does yours have?" .550, "oh that wont work then." Okay well what are my options? "I don't know, we don't have any springs for that, why don't you mail me one of your springs and I'll try to find something laying around the shop that will work for you"... WTF! Are you kidding me? Why in the hell would they make valves out of the baddest material on the planet other than maybe titanium and only offer springs for .500 lift? Seriously? After studying the mocked up valve tonight I don't see any way in hell it can possibly work, the reason why is the tip is much taller and the rest of the stem is shorter, leaving the spring more compressed than it was designed to be. ARGH! I'm going to have to send this shit back and try to get a set of Manley Extreme Duty's here ASAP. Figures after 2+ months of waiting for my machine shop they are finally ready to start my motor on Monday now this..my luck strikes again!

Yeah, that's why I sent my Manley exhaust valves to swaintech for coating. It is weird they make it almost proprietary, limits your market.

Proprietary would be fine if it worked with a reasonable sized cam. Oh well, I ordered a set of Manley Extreme Duty single bead loc series valves today, paid for overnight shipping so I can drop them off at the machine shop Monday morning. Hopefully there won't be any more issues with this!

That sucks finding out that after the fact. We ordered some from them but also gave them the spects we wanted the stem diam. and length and where to put the keepers. It takes longer but we get what we need.

I hear you, my biggest problem was the spring height, and that I didn't have the time or patience for any more stress with this, mostly the latter, lol

LMFAO!

Okay let's try this again, I'll be dropping these off to my machinist Monday morning. Hopefully he will get everything done and I will be assembling this time next weekend. These are actually the 1mm larger valves too, not that it will make much difference, this is what I wanted initially but Ferrea would have taken a month to make a set of theirs this size.

Send that shit back to Ferrea and tell them to kiss your ass. What a load of horse shit. Don't tell me your super duper high quality custom item is specifically designed to work in my application and then when I get it it won't fucking work.

^^I did, M'Effers! Skwerls' back I see lol

Okay so today is a good news bad news scenario, the good news is my machine shop FINALLY started working on my motor! The bad news is they found one of my pistons is collapsed, #7 has a .002 narrower skirt than the others, meaning its shit! This is the same cylinder where the rings lost their tension and had 20% leak down. This must be a result of my old shitty injectors that locked up under boost and NOT LITO's fault! Anyway the rest of the pistons had some wear too so I found another set at ProPower and get them on their way here ASAP. They're actually pretty good about having stuff in stock and if the don't they get it here fast. Here's a few pics of the bad piston, you never would know by looking at it, I sure didn't. This is a prime example why I trust this machine shop and waited this process out, as painful as it's been.

So I got all my engine tools out and dusted them off, looks like I may get to use them again soon!

I take it the X in the skirt area is the bad spot. Good catch.

If I understand what you're referring to correctly, no. The measurement is taken on the coated sides, toward the bottom, this is where it's collapsed. You couldn't see the red marker there though so I assume that's why they marked it next to the pin.

Kyle, my eyes must be failing me I do not see a "heads-on" piston stop in the picture.

LOL, it's in the plastic black case toward the top of the pic. My rod vice is also not in the pic since it's clamped in my bench vise.

Well onto the next chapter of this story, after a few days passed and no pistons showed up I called Propower to see WTF and they proceeded to inform me there was an issue with their inventory computer, they did have the pistons in stock however they're currently installed in a short block! ARGH!! After another afternoon making a million phone calls I found a set of the same pistons .030 over, ordered them and they arrived on Thursday. So now my motor will be 1.7 cu larger, watch out! Needless to say that little inventory error was another set back so the machine shop didn't have enough time to get everything done this week, now were trying for tomorrow. I'm told everything is done other than honing the block, polishing the crank, and a few other minor things I asked them to do.

On another note the rear drag race brake kit I ordered from Strange last month showed up the other day, I ordered it about a month ago, it took forever since it's a brand new kit and is in high demand. They also had to make the brackets since they were out of stock. The kit is so new the sales guy I talked to on the phone didn't even know it existed yet, I had to give him the part number to find it (Part #B1722WCH with medium metallic pads) then he was like when the hell did that come out? lol. This kit is designed to be used with Strange axles and c-clip eliminators. I also had to get -3an ss lines and adapters from Wilwood part #220-9248.

Anyway I installed it over the past couple days, here's a few pics. Over all it's a great kit, drops about 30 lbs of weight, some of that rotating weight, including the parking brake handle and cables. I had to grind the aluminum brackets slightly to get the bolt holes to line up, otherwise everything went well.

First you have to pull the axles to swap the caliper mounting brackets, which I was pleased to realize is much easier to do with the c-clip elims than with the OEM c-clips!

Dont hate on my grinding work~

Hopefully I'll get my motor back tomorrow..

If you haven't done so yet, I would suggest putting a rollbar in this beast, it's getting serious. I admire your patience and determination with this. I'm not sure I could take enough blood pressure meds to get through what your going through.

Hell yea! I know who I'm calling tomorrow. I need a set of those brackets. The one I made for the dual calliper set up made to much of a growling sound for me. I can get my wheels tucked back in 3/4 now. Did the kit retain the anti grown braces that come from the factory?
