Yep, and it started with the 2016 GT350, have not heard what is happening with that lawsuit? You'd think ford would have learned with that and upgraded the PP1 and PP2 cars, all they did was put in a supposed larger radiator that doesn't do shit. They build these car with Track apps and say they are only to be used on track, but the car can't run on track and Ford won't back it up! IMO its the biggest scam Ford ever had!

Actually, I think the 6.0 Power Stroke diesel takes that award!

RIP - You will be missed
These are not cars for the track. Grand Touring.
People will take them out there, for any number of reasons.

Not the least of which is Ford's advertising pitch, "Dave Pericak, director, Ford Icons. “Like the original, the all-new Mustang will be true to its heritage, delivering great looks and as the most track-capable 5.0-liter Mustang ever.”

From Fords own media:
https://media.ford.com/content/ford...s-pinnacle-of-mustang-5-0-liter-v8-style.html
  • 480 horsepower limited-edition Mach 1 sets a new standard of 5.0-liter V8 track-ready performance in the Mustang lineup while celebrating original model’s aggressive aerodynamic and handling enhancements
  • Six-speed manual transmission from Ford Performance and an available 10-speed automatic transmission provides capability on and off the track; available Handling Package delivers even more on-track
  • Exterior styling cues include a new front fascia and grilles for both improved cooling and aerodynamics; low-gloss magnetic and black accents as well as hood and side-body stripes with reflective surfaces celebrate Mach 1 heritage dating back more than five decades.
  • The all-new Mustang Mach 1 is set to become the most track-capable 5.0-liter Mustang ever, courtesy of a newly designed front end, plus Ford Performance parts from Mustang Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT500 models and an available Handling Package for greater at-limit handling.
  • Integrated into the Mach 1 engine are revised Shelby GT350 components including the intake manifold, oil filter adapter and engine oil cooler, increasing engine oil cooling capability by 50 percent.
Ford is pushing it as a track car, it better damn well live up to it! Guess we'll see.

Yes mach 1 is for track

Track packs on gt's are for boomers to select as profitable option

Gt350 w/o proper coolers was a big boner by Ford. Was rectified IIRC.

I'm not even sure that the diff cooling issue was the worst one for the non-PP GTs as far as even novice-level track driving is concerned. How about those front rotors that you simply cannot provide additional cooling air to because they draw air in from the wrong side.

The front rotor assy is ill conceived, not engineered.

Shifts good but is fragile. Don't even think about a power adder with a TR3160. Why put a transmission that is only rated for 405 lb-ft behind an engine that makes 420 lb-ft?
Why not go with the proven TR6060? Put a dual-mass flywheel with a TR6060 and it will rival the TR3160 for smoothness.

The same trans is mated to the GT350 5.2, isn't it?
And that engine is rated at 429 ft-lbs of torque, at the crank, so the 420 rating is probably B.S.

What's the torque rating on the MT82, do you happen to know?

I don't know if Getrag actually posts a number for torque capacity. It is certainly not much of a benchmark to follow though. Callimer can build a decent MT-82, there isn't much they can do with the 3160.
It was the same transmission as the GT350 and it is probably adequate for a stock car but it is a limitation for how far you can take a Mach1 power-wise. The Camaro offers the same transmission-but only on their non V8 cars.

Did some Googling, apparently the MT82 is rated at 369 ft-lbs in a 9500-lb vehicle. LOL. Weird way to rate something.
So in a much lighter vehicle it should be able to handle some good amounts of torque. Mine's been handling about 500 rwtq for about 6 years now. Still on the stock clutch too :)
