I'm looking to put a twin screw supercharger on my car in the next few months(either whipple or saleen) and also a forged rotating assembly(rods, pistons, etc) and im wondering how much i should expect installation to be? I was thinking it will probably be around 2500$ or so. Would that be a pretty close estimate? :beerchug2:

the blower install should be around 10-11 hours IMO, so depending on the shop that could be $750-1100

the engine work I'd guess your looking more like 3000-4000, the motor has to be pulled and then torn down, block sent to a machine shop to be honed, then assembled and reinstalled.

Install the blower yourself, if you're not engine savy then i say take it to a shop and have them do the assy. Blower installs are actually pretty easy once you tear into it.

But why would you want a forged crank? There are cars makin some decent numbers with a cast crank, forged pistons and rods. Although that might be my 5.0 side comin out, i dont know much about modulars.

If you can work a rachet, you can install the SC yourself. Once you have the instructions in your hand you realize that it is a simple process, just time consuming. If you have some place to work, consider doing it yourself.

Since we are on the subject, let's say you had a block and the necessary internals for the shortblock. Anyone have any idea on what kind of scratch we are talking? Rough ballpark figures are more than acceptable.

It depends. probably around 1k to 2K for just assembly. May go up for machine work and balancing.

And then when it breaks (because nothing ever breaks in this hobby), no one is accountable. This is simple. Either do the whole thing yourself, or pay to have it done. Lots of people have been down this path, and it gets ugly. Even going from one shop to another gets messy. Thats my opinion on the matter.

Stkjock is dead on. But if you save 1000 on the blower install, most shops will charge you to remove and reinstall the blower when they pull the motor to build it (more if its a turbo or centri).
