Dealers are only given so many cars at first, so when other guys sell out at the lower price eventually people will pay the price.

If I was still in a dealership I would be holding as much profit as I could, knowing I only get 4 cars or so at first.

If you want a better deal just wait 4 months :)

I always thought they could just place as many orders as they get? Sure they only have so much inventory on the lot, and I understand trying to get the most of those sales.

You can always buy "used" cheaper than new. Thats life. Thats how it will always be. Between the auto and CS package youre 3500 dollars in options right there.
Yeah you're right about the "used" is cheaper thing, but $40K and it doesn't even say Roush or something on it, haha no thanks!

Well I guess if youre into paying for a "name" when you buy your new 5.0 i'm sure they can put a sticker on it so you can sleep better. These cars are the NEW mustang. Quality ride, quiet, comfortable and if you want luxury.

You can place as many orders as you want but there is an allocation number given to dealers. My old dealership, where I was General Sales Manager, had only six 05's allocated to us in the first 3 months they were sold!

People drove past our dealership to buy them at dealerships 140 miles away that had a better supply.

The six we sold? We made good money on because by the time we were allowed more the excitement had faded.

It would rock if dealers just ordered and they supplied, but Ford doesn't do that. They go by a "turn and earn" program, if you sold 50 last year you are guaranteed 50 next year etc etc.

We were in truck country and we got screwed by Ford.

Some dealers sell more of particular models and they get them in return.

Sounds like Ford pigeon-holes dealers into being either truck or car dealerships this way.

Seriously, how could you ever drag your dealership style around to the new paradigm if the only recourse is to get what you sold last year???

No ... has a Getrag tranny rated at 380TQ .. not the Tremec rated at 600TQ

That caught my attention too. The 5.0 makes 390ft/# so it looks like this trans is at it's limit on a stock setup. Lots of people are planning power upgrades. It'll be interesting to see how the trans holds up.

The existing 5 speed has had several known problems for cars making more power. The input shaft went on mine.

Hi guys, I am new here. I drove an automatic last weekend and loved it. Compared to the 5R55s, I felt that it found a gear much better when you floored it. My 3v when you nail it while rolling is a little hesitant before it downshifts and my 2005 GT was like that too. This car downshifted immediately and the power difference is unreal especially on the top end. I really like the car but it gets to almost $40k quickly with options. I am hoping to wait a year or so and find one used but I definately plan on getting one.

So if i have this figured right the TR3650 would be rated at 500lb/ft of tq. My 3650 handled well over that for quite awhile. A rating is a rating and doesn't mean that is the breaking point =)

I wouldn't make that assumption. I ran mine at 450 rwhp for 2 years but when I started tracking the car on road couses, it began having issues.

When I said well over I was refering to 650lb/tq. Launching at 6000 rpm. If the trans was gunna break it would have been then.
