Awesome work. I love the detail put into everything. I am planning on doing something similar but with a shop doing the machine work and this is giving me a ton of inspiration. And thanks for the great read, I now have to be up in 5 hours.

Awesome work. I love the detail put into everything.

This thread was as much for my benefit as others. I wanted to document every step of the assembly process so that if I had a question or concern I could go back and validate (part #s, clearances, torque specs. etc) the assembly. I have roughly 700 pictures of the complete build.

I am grateful to SD (who really isn't a prick), JDM and others more experienced than myself that kept an eye on this build and cautioned me when I was about to make a bad decision and to those I would like to say Thanks.

You (or someone that can) should make this info into a pdf for download. One file with all we would need--pictures, part numbers, etc.--would be awesome!

That's not bad at all. The new 5.0 he got is pretty sweet.

Couple more little last minute details....

Picked up (2) W704593-S100 seals for the heater tube
100_1143.jpg

and while inspecting the (8) coils I found (1) that the spring looked stretched so I picked up (1) replacement coil assembly part# 3L3Z-12029-BA (Motorcraft part# DG-511). The spring is not sold separately nor is the coil. If either the spring or coil needs replaced, the entire assembly must be replaced. However, the boots (part# 3L3Z-12A402-BA) are serviced separately and sell for about $7 ea.

Very nice progress. Your flex plate, arp bolts, torque converter, and input shaft are exactly the same as my setup. Fond memories!!!

And +2 on those 'high-temp" heater-seal o-rings. Easy to overlook those.

Just thought I would share a couple photos that may save someone unnecessary work in the future. The X-pipe does not have to be removed to perform the R&I of the engine. Rather, use a couple of hose clamps to support the X-pipe when it is unbolted from the headers.

Project is getting very close to being finished. Had a few dollars left in the piggy bank, dug deep in the couch for spare change and came up with enough cash to purchase the FRPP 3V throttle body. This purchase was not based on looks or performance. Take a look at the GT 500 throttle body. Notice the clock position of the throttle motor housing. Even with lowered Prothane mounts the motor housing still rubs my GT 500 hood/liner.

The 3V throttle motor housing is clocked at a different angle and doesn't rub the hood liner.

Here's a picture of the finished product - bolts torqued to 89 in. lbs.

Probably not....

I want to make sure there are no issues with the FRPP 3V throttle body before I get rid of the GT 500 throttle body. Besides I may decide to install the GT 500 throttle body on my wife's 06 Saleen S/C'd GT.

See that nice, little plastic bolt thingy on the motor housing? Whatever you do.....DO NOT bump that motherfucker. They break with astounding ease. Mine came out of the box broken and I had a hell of a time getting a replacement.
