Thank you everyone for the information and I really appreciate the explanation Norm. His suggestion for higher gears was for stage rally only, not the parking lot Rallycross. I’ll definitely have to try it out the way it’s geared now. I agree with everyone, I think it should do fine

Also update. Ordered the mishimoto radiator kit, should be here next week. Going to throw that on, fabricate a skid plate, take it out to a local lake bed/gravel road area to test it with its regular street tires. Then figure out my 16in wheels and tire situation

Did you identify the coolant leak, or are you just going to replace all the hoses while you're doing the radiator?

Yes! The lower rad hose to the block rubbed on the pulley and split open. I’m replacing all the hoses though

Story time! My first car was an Import Tuner style show car. You could Eat off that engine bay. One day, I'm about 2 blocks from my house, the temperature gauge spikes, I smell coolant, and there's steam everywhere.

The lower radiator hose rubbed the fan, which wore a hole in it and sprayed coolant ALL OVER THE ENGINE. I spent like 30 minutes replacing the hose and refilling the radiator and like a week detailing it.

On the lower hose that goes to the block there’s one clip that only has one ear on it to put an pair of pliers on and it’s driving me nuts. Does this clamp need a special tool or something?

I’ve been using that tool and couldn’t get it on for the life of me.
I went through the top of the hood down and managed to get it to work. Pitfa clamp

84C9C962-8B9D-49F7-B797-B8DA058A6B6C.jpeg Well cars all back together! Drove it around a bit and it feels great! The suspension is of course much softer than the other springs I had but the ride height should work a lot better.

Next step is to build a skid plate. My plan is to take the car up to my dads house who has a lift and a welder to see what we can do. Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations of how to do this?

3C93E251-7755-4754-A9C5-80A534A5F23F.jpeg Today just finished up a draft of the skid plate. Welded a bar that goes in the bumpers skin thats going to have some tabs on it and then make a plate that’s going to run past the oil pan. After it’s done tomorrow it’ll be test time later this week

It's not hard with a MIG. Take a class at a tech school.

6816DDD6-7808-4D1B-BE26-F8E61A79F5E6.jpeg All welded up and bolted! Decided to use UHMWP plastic since king of the hammer rock crawler guys like to run it because it’s hard like a metal plate but rocks slide across it and don’t get caught.

Yeah it’s all Mig. I’m fortunate to have practiced and have my brother teach me who went to school

I got a coworker who builds rock crawlers for King of the Hammers. He keeps telling me to come over to his shop and he'll teach me. I should take him up on the offer.

Does anyone know if someone makes plexiglass side windows or something similar? I have my glass removed and the motors

Yeah probably. I know I've seen drag race cars with them.

If you haven’t already done so - a piece of soft closed-cell foam glued between the plate and motor helps exclude rocks and debris.

Any “smashes” to the plate then are more-easily absorbed without stray stone “teeth” biting into thin oil pans and other fragile items.

Costs almost nothing in weight penalty, if stuck-down to the plate no hunting for it in Service, or forgetting it when bolting up the plate.

Not my idea - just passing it along from Rally Team friends.

That’s a good idea. Is the soft cell foam the same foam that’s used in fuel cells or is it something else?
