At the time of its launch 20 years ago, 300hp from 4.6L was pretty decent though, let's face it, Ford did leave a lot of power under the table. With just a decent tune alone, 325hp was possible and that would have handily beaten the 4.6 4V. I think I've got my car where it should have been from the outset with ~365hp & ~375lbft (crank) from simple bolt ons and a tune (stock HCI). That's 105hp & 73lbft more than a stock 4.6 2V!!
The Coyote is undoubtedly a much superior platform and IMO, the Gen 3/4 versions are the best N/A 5.0L engines on the planet. With just a CAI, LT headers, Gen 3 intake manifold, 93 octane tune, suspension, and tires on an 11-14 GT, an 11.XX time slip is possible.
