Wow. I damaged one wheel rim(looks like curb rash) and had to drill out valve stem holes to get tube stems to fit. Looks like im going to take tires and wheels to a tire place for install tomorrow. Cant get talc anymore so baby powder with corn starch. Guess I will try mounting rear LCA,s. Hey Red Candy, I thought of you when I saw pics of Midlife Crises car earlier in thread. Glad your still on here Brother.

I have the tires on rims ready to go on car. Is it OK to leave them on car? Im thinking these are alot of tire for my car so what can I expect for service life with minimal burn outs and low HP? Would 20 psi be a good starting point? Thanks

Well I found out where the extra 3/4 lb of wheel weight is. I had to grind a quarter inch off both rear calipers, the portion that goes over the top of disc. I shouldn't have cheaped out. LMR,s sve star wheels are the best deal on the market. I couldn't help myself. I did one hole shot. 20psi tire pressure won't work on 70degree pavement. I cleaned em off alittle and did two gears. I left at 3500 and they didn't hook in second either. Good news is engine mounts really helped on shift to 2nd. Going to have to go down on pressure. I didn't dump the clutch either. I was hoping they would stick like glue. MT 26/10/15,s. Strange thing is it just spun and no wheel hop. I got my wideband today so that will help. Hope to have LCA,s and wideband in Saturday. Getting close. Good thing too cause season is almost over.

A back road run vs the track is day & night! Surfaces and prep are completely different...

Drop psi down to 10-15 and work from there... get used to launching by selecting RPM/clutch engagement that allows the tires to grab without excessive spinning or bogging...

Post pics of time slip when you get them... good luck ;)

Interesting. When I had 15in SVE drag pack, I didn't need to grind anything off the calipers...just needed the sway bar relocation brackets.

The MTs won't magically give you a prepped surface. They need a prepped surface to grip to and that is where the slick will shine over street tires. Just be prepared that if this is your first time on a prepped surface with a slick, the jolt from launching is fairly abusive, though I had ET Street Rs (radial, not a bias ply). First time I launched my car hard, I thought I broke something from how hard I dumped the clutch being used to a little forgiveness from spinning off the line.

10 - 12 psi and a short burnout. Just till you start to make smoke. Rear suspension stiff so the rear does not squat. Front suspension soft so the nose can lift for weight transfer. Launch at the rpm that does not pull the fire out of the engine but does not go up in smoke either. Every street, parking lot and track is different. The street and a drag strip have nothing in common and the drag strip can change hour by hour. :driver:

Brother Stockish, I didn,t make it very clear in my previous post. I bought Jegs spike 15x10,s to save $$ and that's why I had to grind on my calipers. I had SVE,s 15x10,s on it and they fit great without any grinding. I highly recommend the LMR wheels. 17lbs too so very light.

Lighter wheels = less rotating mass.

I got the o2 sensor in but contacted a bad cold and now wife has it too. Im on the mends but still dealing with it. Will update when I get wideband in. I had a terrible problem trying to get street tire going. Low profile tires are terrible on rims. Seems they bend easily and I had a impact rupture on a very expensive tire 275x35x18. I don't want to spend money to replace it because i don't like the profile so that makes the other one useless. Have a few bent rims in two sets. More set backs. Dang

Going thru 1/4 mi list 3v na I was amazed to see the top 11 281 cars were manual trans with one running 11.4,s with stock heads and cams. That really surprised me and gives me hope to run with coyote,s and 2010 plus camaros

People like to poo poo on the 3vs without realizing they actually make good power for their displacement.

Richard Holdener has a an entire YouTube Q&A talking about the 3v and praising its power ability for what it is.

The heads flow as nearly as well as the 4v heads in stock form, have more port velocity and with a little bit of porting can flow more than a 4v head. Add in the VCT and it makes more power in the low to mid range than the 4v. My fist bolt on, cammed 3v ran with bolt on C5Zs, Mach 1s etc all day long.

The 3v just had a short lifecycle due to the coyote but in reality, the 3v was peak 4.6 modular. Theres more than a few high HP 4.6 3vs out there.

Not sure my goal is attainable. On a quarter mile calculator at 3600lbs( my car with 1/4 tank fuel and myself) I would need 375 wheel hp for 12.6,s. Thats well over 400 crank. Is that really possible with 280cu in na? Wide band is hooked up temporarily and im not as far off as I thought i would be.

My car, purely stock, ran 13.30's on hard-as-rocks Goodyear's. With hi-flow cats, gears, and better tires it went 12.80. With suspension work it went 12.60. No cats, longtubes, Hoosier drag radials, and tune went 12.30. So yes, it's very doable.

As others have said…yes, it’s very doable.

Wait until it gets cold and you get good air and negative DA.
