yes - the Saleen lid must be ported to use the GT 500 throttle body or the FRPP 3V throttle body.

I've looked through the pics, where is it at?

I beleive he is talking about the picture looking straight down on the new FRPP Tb, on the right hand side, has some blue paint on it. some sort of adjustment set screw they set at the factory for the TPS (i think).

I thought I would be smart one day and play with that thing. Bad, bad decision. It shattered into pieces with little effort. SD is right on the money; don't even look at this thing wrong or it might break on you.

Mine is brass. Looks like a little Gold tank, I don't think I could break it if I tried. I have the Kenne Bell Stage 2 TB.

Installation is about 90% complete. Next weekend it should be ready to crank up. Working through some last minute belt length issues.

I finally received the correct length belt for my pulley combination:
  • Std dia. crankshaft pulley
  • 76mm tensioner pulley
  • 100mm idler pulley - RH side
  • 90mm idler pulley next to the P/S pump - LH side
  • V10 W/P (5.5") idler pulley
  • 2.75" S/C pulley
  • Gates K061075 (NAPA part# 25-061075) Micro-V AT Belt
I'm sure you could accomplish the same belt tension by placing the 100mm idler pulley next to the P/S pump and leaving the 90mm idler on the RH side. This would allow you to run this combination with having to machine the front cover for the larger 100mm idler pulley on the RH side.

With this combination I have 12mm clearance between the setscrew and stop on the Thump_rrr tensioner

Here's a picture of the additional belt wrap on the S/C pulley using a 100mm idler pulley

Looks like good belt wrap on the Saleen. Sweet. Good luck with the start up. Looking forward to seeing a vid of it soon.

What else is left?

  • Installing the CAI - will require some fitment/adjustment since I have changed throttle bodies and removed throttle body spacer
  • Filling/bleeding engine coolant
  • Filling/bleeding I/C coolant
  • Connecting battery
  • Installing a new fuel filter
  • Install strut tower brace
  • Install lower radiator splash shield
  • Install hood
  • Last minute review of complete installation
  • Loading new tune
  • Turn the key

The assembly process continues.....

GT 500 oil pump 7R3Z-6600-AA (superseeded by 9R3Z-6600-A) has been installed. Pump was fitted with TSS (TSSM20) billet oil pump gear. Mounting bolts torqued to 89 in. lbs.

Windage tray installed. Nuts and pickup tube spacer torqued to 18 ft. lbs.
100_0944.jpg

Oil pump pickup tube installed with o-ring in place. Pickup tube to oil pump mounting bolts torqued to 89 in. lbs. Support bolt torqued to 18 ft. lbs.

Can anybody tell me why the oil pump has 3V cast into the housing as well as a SVT stamp on it ? Pricing on Fordparts.com shows the 5.4 pump priced at $95 and 4.6 pump priced at $115.

Thanks for this writeup

Here's a few pics of the ported Saleen lid and FRPP throttle body setup wo/spacer - still using the JDM CAI, BA2400 MAF meter and C&L Racer intake tube. Notice the clearance between the intake tube and coolant degas bottle and P/S reservoir/cap. With the GT 500 throttle body/spacer setup, the intake tube was almost touching these reservoirs - had a heck of a time getting the P/S reservoir cap off. I also have clearance, although it is minimal (3/16") between the bottom of the intake tube and alternator housing. Hood clearance is still marginal.

Note: yes I'm running the lowered Prothane mounts

Installation is almost complete. Down to charging the battery, topping off/bleeding/pressure testing cooling system and I/C coolant, loading revised tune, looking over complete installation one last time

Good to see your seperating the fuel line from the stainless braided hose. Those braided hoses make great Sawz-alls.

we'll see how the final inspection of the installation goes. Not starting it with any unresolved issues.

With the recent rash of "builds gone bad" it sure seems like bad juju
