i think ill keep it unlocked thn. mph means nothing to me, just et. if the et stays the same and i dont risk breaking anything, it sounds like a win win

what converter are you running? I am a 3400 stall iirc

FB Performance
10"

Full Race (multi disc) L/U - activated after 3rd gear is engaged

Stall Range: 2800-5000 RPMs (Mine is set at a loose 3600 rpm as I can blow through it on the TB)

Max HP: 1100 Max Torque: 950

Once I shift to third I press a button and lock-up. There is a slight delay in me pressing the button so it gives the engine time to recover from the gear change. I have also not seen much of a ET difference if i don't lock-up.

What is the difference in your trap speeds ?

i dont like locking it for the 2-3 shift. flare is what kills ford transmissions and locked will make it worse. after the 2-3 i personally lock it. the new converter willl allow me to lock it outright and quickly without blowing the clutches.

tuning it to wait a 1/2 second after shift is done. you can tune the rate and timing of lockup in the program= consistency.

I was thinking about doing the same. Is it the shaft or converter that's the week link? The converter I'll be getting with it is a 3600 non-lock. While performance will probably be fine I'm worried about temps on the street.
Thanks Mike

heat on the street is the only reason im not going to a TH400. i need lockup for driving it everyday from fall to spring. (no A/C).
