no the GT500 rods are not like the Terminators...those cars had true Manley H-beam rods that were stout.

i dont understand what all the hoopla is about the new 5.0's bottom end...if anyone bothered to pick up the 5.0 mag that had interviews with the team that built the motor from beginning to end they never said the pistons or rods were forged. only the crank is good.
The rods are improved from the 3V (see Rick@Livernois' pics thread) but theyre definitely nothing id want to put under too much stress (i.e. boost or nitrous). i think they improved them slightly to live at 6500+rpm in a stock or lightly modded motor...start turning up the wick and its gonna be deja vu 2, 3 and 4V 4.6's with windowed motors.

Maybe I'm missing something but I didn't see any real difference in those pics. The new rods are said to be "interchangeable" with the 4.6. Could this be code for "same"?

Thats disappointing....was really hoping to see some forged internals in them. But who knows, like AJ above lets so whos blows theirs up first and see the failure point and power limits.

It'll take more than one motor to blow. We have to rule out bad tuning as well

Did you look at the same pics I did...They look a lot better than the 3v rods, not saying they are going to handle 20psi or anything but they are better.

I thought they were noted to be stronger and a major improvement over the 3v rods... Don't get me wrong but I would not really expect someone who actually sells these parts to come in here telling me how good mine are therefore keep me from buying their brand.. Im sure they have their limit but geez some of you guys are talking as if they were junk just because some aftermarket company told you so.. Isnt Evo and JPC making their runs into the 11s and 10s with stock internals?

You could probably run low 10s a few times on stock 3v stuff. How long it'll stay together is another question.

I dont doubt that and agree with you 100%.. But Evo and JPC have made more than a "few" passes with bolt-ons and spray and have had no problems that I know of as far as internals failing on the motor.. Not too mention those cars engines weren't even broke in when they started their testing. Anyways not trying to argue with anyone but I'll take it as it goes.. If they start coming back with failure reports then yes it would be a dissapointment but heck they all have their limits..

This is stupid.

cant be worse then the 10 threads about McRib and if its real meat.. hahah

I think these shops to stop being wusses and trying to be the first in the 10s ... I want to see one with a 200 shot! I want to see one go out in a blaze of glory and then find out what failed...
