Check out the ad in the new MM&FF, page 131, the TCI ad. I know when they were advertising the trans a few months back, it was rated at 600 flywheel horsepower (IIRC), and it was way expensive.

Now they have two models, rated at 850 and 1200. Wonder how much they are going to go for---does anyone know?

Well I went to the www.tciauto.com website. Didn't see a link for the 5R55s anywhere, and in the ad--the super streetfighter says up to 1200 hp. But when you go to the website, all the other super streetfighter transmissions are rated to 600 hp for n/a applications.

So I am thinking its a misprint?

That place is so aggravating to me. I saw all of there adds in the mag for the trans a few months back and the auto shifter and I call about the trans and they tell me not available? WTF? Then I find out that the shifter for the 5R is going for 6-7 hundred! Are they insane?! Not to mention that the website wont give any idea of prices for these products.

Ok im done bitching. I hope you find out some good info Psfracer and keep us all up to date.

So where did you find pricing information on the shifter at? Slofoot knows Kevin at TCI, called him and asked and he had no pricing or release date.

Honestly, I wouldn't be at all surprised for it to be $400+. But if it is $600+ that pretty much kills my thoughts of owning one.

I had my wifes windows tinted while I was home at a local shop called "Phine Designs" I talked with them about if they could order a PI torque converter for me and he said they only deal with TCI so I asked about the shifter and he told me it retailed for 700+ and that he would have to sell it in the 6 hundred range. His eyes even got big! I just simply said NO THANKS!!

Well.. we will see if that price holds true or not. I'm not saying it won't, but seems odd that a vendor would know the price before the supplier would.

Fukkin shame. Cuz it is a tits shifter. Makes the B&M look like shit.

I agree Hawg, I cant say how credible this guy is. Like I said I went there to tint my windows! I have wanted one of these shifters since I first saw it but I will not pay that much for it. If you guys find a price please keep us all informed.

Thanks, Shawn

I'm hoping something comes up soon. Everyone's favorite vendor RPM Outlet has it listed on their web site... so hopefully these things will hit the street sometime in the next couple of months.

Hell... shit makes the B&M look like shit.

These words you speak are true oh great one.

It would look right at home in a completely stripped out track dedicated car. Has no place (astetically) in a street car.

Yeah, I think B&M did a good enough job making the B&M shifter look like shit. I think that's why it's been a couple years since the announcement and still not available. I heard August to September for the TCI. I really want that 1, we'll have to see what the price is. -Joe

I think the TCI shifter looks like shit. I wouldn't pay 300 for it, let alone 500. The B&M shifter looks like a bigger pile of shit though.

Actually, looks and costs aside, I'm not even sure I want an aftermarket shifter for the 5R55S. I really haven't figured when or if I'd ever need/use it.

Don W you are a smart man. The shifter is a cosmetic mod only as of now. There is a juicy rumor that TCI is working with a certain 5R55S tuning guru from the Northeast .....somewhere near NJ.......to develop a manual valve body type setup for the 5R55S. The TCI shifter is still in the works but the trannies are available. The price for the 1200 hp version is comparable to other "race" transmissions I am told. A full race powerglide is north of $5,000.
If you ever want to go to the horses mouth at TCI call there and ask for Stanley Poff. He is the man. TCI is not a huge Wal-Mart type operation. It is relatively small and staffed by some cool folks. :thumb:

Does this certain tuning guru have a shop located about 10 minutes from Englishtown?

$5k+ for it. It better have a transbrake option. In the end the glide would be a better purchase in that its been tried and tested under high HP applications. Paying for the 5R would be one huge gamble until a few big power guys run them for a full season.
