Hmm yeah my paper work says mine is a 2008, but it had a 2010 slave and has the .074, .05 overdrive gears, and look sbrand new basicly.

Wonder if there was a change in input shaft lentg to coincide with the change in the gt500 salve/clutch.

Guess not, I remember your old thread. So the clutch works, there is just a clunking noise?

Yeah, it goes into gear just fine, and holds all of the power and torque I'm making. However, at the exact same spot in the travel of the clutch, it makes 3 or 4 metallic clunking noises. High in pitch, like someone tapping your rain gutters with a hammer. Here are the particulars:
  1. It only does it when the pedal is coming up, i.e. when the clutch is re-engaging.
  2. It only does it when I'm not giving it much gas, mostly when I'm taking off from a stop.
  3. It does it in all gears, including reverse, but not when the transmission is in neutral.
  4. It does not do it if I let off on the pedal VERY slowly.
  5. It clunks when I'm at speed and switching gears about half the time.
  6. It does not do it when the clutch is cold, i.e. when the car has been sitting.
  7. I have a 6923-07, their 164 tooth flywheel, stock slave.
  8. A McLeod authorized dealer shop has inspected the clutch, and has sent pictures to McLeod, and they claim nothing is wrong. My performance shop thinks it's the clutch, the aforementioned McLeod people think it's the transmission.
  9. I have replaced the master cyclinder, the hydraulic line, the slave twice, the driveshaft, and the differential.
At this point, I think the floater or pressure plate or both are warped or moving wrong. I've got $1500 into just the troubleshooting, so I'm ready to just put something else in.

Yeah sounds like an internal clutch issue to me.
Yeah I tried everything, new slaves, different flywheel, shim, vac bleeding and turned out to be the clutch, swapped in the act twin and works like a charm.

Seems like that will let ya know for sure, its what it took for me and yeah i have a bit more than that into the troubleshooting as well.

Heres the clutch we put in the car.

Nice piece, nice price (if that includes the flywheel). I'd need an 8 bolt set-up, so I'll look into whether they offer one. I had good luck with RAM clutches, so maybe I'll look into them, too.

Yeah i think you can find it without flywheel for like $850. My friend has the same act twin in his z06 and he likes it alot. I had a ram hd in my 01 gt, great clutch for the money.

It definitely sucks seeing people struggle with clutches especially the mcleod as it's my personal favorite and our best seller. I run the rxt with McLeod lightened steel flywheel in both my 2010 gt500 and 2011 5.0l. We're putting one in our boss next week. We use the stock slave cylinder without any shims. Neither of these cars exhibit any issues like some have mentioned here. Hopefully you guys get it all straightened out.

Got the car back! The 6060 and act clutch/flywheel is a dream to drive! Love it!
Shifts so damn smooth and effortlessly even with the stock gt500 shifter. I like the act clutch its just a bit stiffer than the rst i had before which I really like, seems to have a more positive feel to it.

On the way home I averaged 26mpg and was turning 1500 rpms at 70mph!

6th its just way too tall for my liking though lol and 1st is really long too, so i see myself stepping up from 3.55s to 4.10s in the future.
