*SOLVED* Emissions Not Ready

Well I'm trying to get my car to pass inspection here in PA again. Last year it passed due to being under 5000 miles but this year, I'm a smidge over and cannot for the life of me get the O2 Heater, Catalyst, Evap, and O2's to set ready. Tried Tillman's Emission Tune and Bama's Emission Tune and nothing. I originally had it tuned on a dyno by CR at Tillman's after my mods. His tuning is awesome, but I can't get his emissions tune to work for me. Drove a combined 800-900 miles between the two of them. Still get the same outcomes. Its an 07 Roush Outlaw Package GT with a manual trans and has a C&L Street Intake, JBA Longtube Headers with High Flow Catted H, Mac Boomtubes, 4.10's, CMCV Delete Plates, Steeda Underdrive Pulleys and a bunch of other suspension mods that shouldn't affect emissions. I have not tried the O2 Non Fouler trick, but I am not getting any CELs anyway. I have AutoEnginuity as well and it shows varying voltage, above and below .45v, at the O2's but I will double check tomorrow. Is there another tune or method I can try? Maybe something I need to look at? This has been driving me insane for the last year trying to set these ready. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. Are the rear O2s turned off in their tunes? If so, that's why you're getting NOT READY flags.
2. Have you driven the "cycle"? It's detailed in the other big thread about emissions.
3. You don't need to try the nonfouler trick if you have cats.

Is there a way to check if the O2's are on? Because like I said, I have 2 emissions tunes but they don't seem to be giving me results. I do have the drive cycle and am going to give it a go again. I originally used the Ford drive cycle and still had the Not Ready's.

Went back in after 300 miles and the thing still isn't ready. Wtf. Last year I drive 60miles and it passes. I reloaded the 93 performance tune aka emissions tune. Now I'll have to drive it longer. Time running out. One more fail and I'll have to pay again.
Not jacking thread. Just not starting another.

I bought one of those Innova readers as in the link I provided above, also when I had this problem the guys at the inspection place plugged their handheld in before it got hooked up to the states computers and told me the rear 02s were on just wouldnt trigger a ready status. The innova reader was $40 shipped off e-bay.

It really sounds like the O2's are turned off. I don't know if you can do it with the LT's and delete plates, but if you can, put your stock airbox on and reload the stock Ford tune. After a drive cycle, that may get you where you need to be. At least it will eliminate the tune question.

Well still no luck, Chris Rose from American Muscle is looking into it for me. We'll see what he comes up with.

I had a hell of a time getting my car inspected. I have Hooker LTs and Catted high-flow H-pipe. I ended up going to another inspection station and it passed. It may be the inspection station.

You should be able to 'see' if the rear o2 sensors are on by using LiveLink and datalogging, and seeing if there's rear o2 signals.

...Still agree it's in the tune...

My CR 93 performance (emission tune) worked last year w/ < 100 miles driven. I did 300 miles and still not ready. I reloaded the tune and I'm up 200 miles. It'll be a 60 mile round trip to the ice rink tomorrow morning and then I'll get it rechecked.
If this doesn't work … it will be the first time the stock air box has been back on the car since 500 miles and '05.
The tune couldn't be corrupt if it passed last year. :moan: tired of getting eyeballed by the local PD when I drive by w/ the reject sticker on.

Which monitors are showing ready and remain not ready? You should pass if only 1 monitor is "supported" and remains "not ready". This is dictated by the Federal EPA standards.

The EVAP monitor is the most difficult to trigger. The fuel tank level needs to be between 15% and 85%, ideally at 75% and you need to drive between 45 and 65 MPH for 10 minutes straight.

The PCM can be interrogated to report which monitors are "supported" and "not supported". The inspection computer will ignore the ready state of monitors that are listed as "not supported", so it does not matter if they are "ready" or "not ready".

Your inspector may be looking at monitors with his handheld scanner which he expects to be supported and are not ready, but the emissions tune has actually set them to "not supported" to fool the inspection computer, so it does not matter that they are "not ready".

Yes, he's plugging in his handheld scanner. That's telling him it's not ready. It passed 1 of 3 on the inspection machine initially.
EVAP was ready …

What are the other two that are showing "supported" and are "not ready"?

The stock stradegy has 6 monitors:

CCM_EVAL
MISF_EVAL
O2S_EVAL
O2SHTR_EVAL
CAT_EVAL
EVAP_EVAL

Since you are in Mass, there are something called a Motorist Assisance Center or MAC. These sites have dynos where you can drive the vehicle on with a technician for vehicles with difficult to trigger readiness monitors. There is one in Bourne, MA.

See:

http://www.vehicletest.state.ma.us/motorist_emissions.html

MAC Hotline: 866-941-6277

Not sure how that would work out for you though, since you are not running the stock stradegy...

I just went back again and he plugged in his scanner. He said a bunch of stuff still isn't ready. He stated it would fail and I'd use my free retest. I told him that I used the same tune last year here and it passed. Here's the initial report. Thanks for the help!

This does not seem like an emissions tune. Why are your O2s and CATs listed as "Not Ready" instead of "Not Supported"?

I can't remember from last year. When I sent the SCT II back to Chris Rose he over wrote the old Evolution tune. I thought the 93 performance tune was the emission tune. I sent CR a PM, but I doubt he'd remember this small detail.
My guess now is that the 93 performance tune on the SCTII is an old one from Evolution … it's just to peppy for an emission tune. F$%% … I guess I'll have to install the stock crap and load the stock tune.
Will the stock tune run w/ UD pulleys? I can't recall…:thud:

I don't think you need to return it to stock. You should be able to get an emissions tune from Chris Rose / Bama and install that with your existing setup.
