Not the case with my car. It will ALWAYS read higher, even at night, in my garage, etc. I first noticed it on a hot day when everyone was posting pics of their car thermometers on Facebook and mine was like 10+ degrees higher than everyones. Now I notice, it literally is NEVER accurate. People have given me shit, "why does your car say 121 degrees outside?" A lot of my friends have therms and they are pretty accurate.it's typical of any car that sits in the sun
