Grabber and I were just talking about this setup the other day. I'm not an expert on PCV systems, but I have some questions about how this works.

How does this differ from a straight-up breather setup?

What creates the vacuum to get the oil vapor to travel through those long hoses to the vented catch can?

What effects does this have on the head temps and engine longevity?

Well from what reading I've done before doing this setup is that is pretty much the same as doing a straight breather setup but it just has the can there to catch the oil that it pushes out, quite a few people have had oil blow through the filters and be all over the engine bay. PCV systems were mainly created for emissions in the first place, to put the gases and vapors that are built up in the crankcase back through the engine instead of just putting it out into the air. The crank case has enough pressure to vent itself through these breather catch cans when n/a, even more so when boosted because crankcase pressure goes up and you get more blow by. The main thing is keeping oil out of the intake, oil in the intake then into the combustion chamber = detonation, so this eliminates that worry. I wish I would have took a picture of the inside of my stock intake manifold when I pulled it off, it was covered with oil. Even the intake ports on the heads had oil just laying on them. Most people that do these breather catch cans will do an inlet for each valve cover, I just teed them together and ran one inlet. I used all 5/8" inside diameter hose so that should be plenty to vent. As far as the head temperature question I don't know, I'm far from an expert on this matter but this is what I've gathered from reading several things on forums and the internet. If anybody has more insight on this please feel free to correct me! lol

Thanks. I understand what blow by is, why it's bad, and how big of an issue it is on these cars. I didn't know there was enough pressure to vent the crankcase through a long section of tubing though. Keep us updated as to how it works out for you.

You ever see how the Boss 302s are vented?
baffled catch can with both valve covers running to it. If it works on a Boss 302s I'd say it will on these cars.

Nice, I had not seen that. Thanks for the education (I mean that sincerely - this is something I admittedly didn't fully understand).

Well here's what we have come up with (copied from what I wrote on another forum).

After talking to a few buddies here is what we've come up with, I know it won't fit everyone's plans or schedule but this is what we have decided on..

For anyone that wants to meet in Mt. Vernon we will do so at the Hardee's off exit 62 @ 9am and then ride down to Somerset and meet the rest of the group at Cracker Barrel at 10am for some breakfast, then leave there and get in line for the show. It's a pretty simple plan but if I've left anything out feel free to speak up lol.

Depends on what you're looking for as Torched said, you going to the show or just wanting to cruise/race? There's several of us meeting up early and getting some breakfast then going to the show downtown, after the show I'd say we will meet back up somewhere on the strip.
