No and it is only the rears. Fronts sound fine.

No vibration? How about a real high frequency vibration?

I agree I would not want to go flying through the traps with spooky brakes.

Have you thought about strapping a GoPro under there and then checking the video?

Wonder if the slide pins were damaged.

The strange calipers don't have slide pins. They have pistons on both sides so they don't need them. I will repost some pics in a bit and maybe someone will see something that I did wrong. IDK

No only the noise and it is enough that I let off and get back on them. its almost like they are getting to hot or something.

Here is a like to the brake setup. I also now have the UPR manual MC set up, but the Factory MC had the same issue.

Lets see if you guys can see anything I did wrong here please.

I wonder if you got a bad caliper.

Something along these lines. Disc brakes are pretty simple. It sounds like a pad contact situation to me. I wonder if some of the pistons aren't moving and one of the pads is "rattling" around in there. That would groan like mad. Of maybe a pad is getting cocked at an angle a little. That would groan like mad too.

If it was me I would pop the calipers off and first inspect the pads for any reference of goofyness. Then I would check each piston to make sure they were moving in their bores.

Gotta have a piston sticking.

I will check them all tomorrow afternoon or Thursday. I have to go to Austin Tuesday and Wednesday. I guess if it was getting to hot, the brakes would just fade. I do know that it has nothing to do with proportioning valve or anything as I have tested with it full decrease and full increase locking up both ends of the car.

I highly doubt it is a heat issue. When brakes cook you're correct, they just fade.

You may have overheated the rotors though. Those bad boys are skinny. It wouldn't take much. And overheated skinny rotors start to look like potato chips. You can check that with a dial indicator.

It shouldn't be too hared to find. Just time consuming. Good luck man, I want to see some 1/4mi times!!!:thumb2:

Are they the same pads front to back (soft vs hard)? I think mine came with the soft pads. I've had mine hot enough to pour smoke, liquify, stink, and the rotors didn't warp. I don't do any street driving on them where stop/go may build continual heat up in them.

Yes, same pads front to back. I have not done any stop and go driving on them yet, just data log pulls. I'm going to call strange and see what they say.

I agree with the GoPro camera check. Is the new dual bracket material the same as the Strange bracket? I would definitely check the pads and calipers and try just one set of calipers and if its still there change to the Strange bracket. I checked a few of the in car videos I have of the cuda at 160 but between the rear and the trans making noise I can't hear anything related to the brakes. I know we changed the rotors and pads last season after 2 sets of pads on the same rotors. But we use Mark Williams stuff.

Did you figure out the oil leak yet?

Well the mark on the driveway that made me find the issue yes, the drain plug was leaking. That does not explain the oil at the front of the oil pan though. After these pulls and finding the leak, I cleaned it all off and made a pull on the car. After pulling back in the garage, I checked the bottom of the pan and it was clean. It does still leak from the drain bolt though. I need a new seal there and will make some more big pulls on the motor. If the leaks besides the drain plug continue, I will look at my breather tank setup for crankcase evac issues or a front seal issue.

There is no Strange bracket gor the 05 up cars. I used 4043 on the brake brackets, not as hood as the 6061 on the crank support, but more then enough for its use.

That's right I forgot they didn't make a bracket. I have got too much going on at work (2valve 4.6 spitting out #3plug on right side) and getting the last parts I need for my car.

If there was any news I would let you know! Lol J/K

I have to go to Dallas in the am and get a job started and then I'm on brake duty. If I can't get the Strange rear setup to my liking then I have Masons rear stockers setting in my garage. If all else fails the car will be there on the 28th to get some 1/8 passes. Good brakes or not. If you let out at the 1/8 on a 1/4 track, there is a ton of shut down time.

If all goes well though, being serious, I will test 1/8 mile at Kennadale on Sunday. Once again, the weather is supposed to be shit though. No way the car is making a full pass 1/4 mile as is though the way it is now.

Well the weather is supposed to be shit tomorrow and that is a good thing. Im glad I took the chance to investigate the rear brake groan before hitting the track or doing much road driving. After removal of the Strange rear brake setup I made, I found a issue with the rear bracket I built. It has no retainer for the bearing in the Strange C Clip Eliminator as the factory one did.

The one I made.

The Strange bracket.

This may be the cause of the groan though. It is used in this purpose from the factory.

Here is where I am at now, with the original Strange C Clip Eliminators.

After all this stock stuff is cleaned up tomorrow, it will go back on the car.

On another note, the Summit Racing seat was not to my liking, I decided to put the factory seats back in for now and have 5 pt harnesses on both sides so I can show the kid what power feels like.

Last week I also picked up some Moroso valve covers used and am cleaning them up tomorrow to go on the car.
