Good luck with them, hopefully you'll be able to get them soon. I have a feeling they're going to fill up that rear end of the car really well.
Larry,

I just spoke with the M/T rep on the phone and he said he has no honest idea when my rear M/T tires will show-up.

The tires are here in the USA right now but when they will end up in the warehouse, then shipped to me he does not know.

I prefer that answer to a guesstimation on his part.

I can't see where me sharing this last E-Mail from the M/T Rep I have been working with is going to hurt anything.

The bottom-Line is they may or may not work with my S-197 with the Steeda Ultra-Lite Springs.

The reason being it is possible if one were to go over some really rough road conditions where the ass-end would slam the tires upward they might HIT the inside fender-wells.

It comes down to a Trial & Error sort of thing.

Below is the actual E-Mail from M/T rep to me a few minutes ago.

The "Billy Person" the Rep is referring to is, Bill Glidden and his Street Mustang.

I'll post those Pics. below I was sent for you to check out.

Terry,
Your order has not shipped as these tires are on backorder.

There were several hundred orders in the system when I put your order in.

I’d say you’re going to have to take the car back to Brenspeed without the 305 Street Comp tires on ‘er… sorry man!

Billy works very closely with us on the development of our drag products; I actually installed the wheels/tires on his “daily-driver” over the weekend; the car was displayed in our “pit”.

I think that with the combination of the negative-offset of the SC-5 wheels, the width of the 305’s and the fact that the ’05 – ‘14 Mustangs have a solid-rear axle, if the car was any lower, the 305’s would rub.

I’ve seen several 05+ Mustangs with the 305 rears… but most probably don’t have an offset as negative as our SC-5 wheels.

As I said before, the offsets selected for the 20” ‘05+ Mustang fitments were intended for use with the 255/35R20 & 275/35R20 combination.

Larry,

I suppose this is just going to have to be one of those wait and see sort of things.

Either they work with the Steeda Ultra-Lite springs I have or ..........

I change the springs back to the stock Bullitt springs if I like the way the new tires look on the M/T SC-5 wheels.

If I need more clearance between the top of the tires and the fender I could as I said change my springs back to stock.

My thinking is the 305/35-20's are going to be taller than the now existing 275/35-20's I have on the rear.

If I like the look and just need a little more top of the tire to fender clearance I can get 3/4" by changing back to the stock Bullitt springs front and rear.

The 305/35-20's are 28.4 diameter versus the 275/35-20's at 27.6 diameter.

Worse case I guess will be making a damn wheel change again !!!

I'd much prefer keeping the M/T wheels & tires and just change out my springs if needed for additional clearance.

Well we shall see once the tires finally get here so I can have them mounted and see what the heck they look like and also what clearance I have for them.

Terry if you need more clearance get this rear spring setup. http://www.uprproducts.com/mustang-adjustable-rear-spring-mount-05.html

I had the Ultra-Lite springs and I changed to these. I didn't like the height changes going from my regular 27 inch tires to my 28.8 inch M/T summer tires. I can set the height at about any level now and with the 220 lb springs I got, the ride quality is actually better then the Steedas. They are simple to install and easy to adjust.

Earl,

I see they offer the springs with 3-options.

(10-150)

(10-175)

(10-200)

I take it you chose the 10-200 option for your's ?
I just talked to UPR (Tony) and as it turns out they run that kit on their 2009 GT Mustang.
So he was very informed on it.

I just sent the information to Brent so he can order the UPR kit for me.
The springs kit to be the "10-200".

It's obvious that when the tires will show-up is anyone's guess now.
So might as well get the UPR kit installed while Brenspeed has the Bullitt.

Earl, for what it is worth I really appreciate the information.

I was going to just get a new set of the Bullitt rear springs and have them installed which would have raised the rear-end up another 1 1/2" approximately.

This is a much better solution for sure and when and if I change wheels or tires this is going to really work out perfect.

Thanks again,
Terry

You're welcome, I think you will be impressed with them. It's basically coil over adjustables for the rear, with my Tokico shocks. Almost all of the coil over kits use this same type of setup for the rears because the upper shock mounts aren't stressed for using spring style coil overs. I know I am very happy with mine.

Earl,

(Tony) the UPR guy I talked with for awhile said he thinks this is the way to go.

I did not even know these existed to be honest.

A very simple solution for sure and especially if one was running multiple sets of different size wheels and tires.

This way I can adjust it to exactly where I want it.

Say, a question how hard is it to adjust them ?

I'm sure you have done it a few times.

The UPR Site does not show or tell anything about how the adjustments are actually made.

You can actually turn them by hand, up to a point, with all the weight lifted from the suspension but they take a normal coil over spanner wrench, or you can use one of those strap wrenches also. I don't have a spanner wrench so I use the strap wrench with the suspension unloaded.

Earl,

Say I don't suppose you would happen to have any Pic's showing that UPR set up under your Mustang ?

Most people don't have pictures from underneath but some people do.

I took pics of mine as the New suspension was installed.

If you have any I sure would like to see them.

I take it that the easiest way to adjust them is to put the rear end on Jack-Stands ?

I don't have any pics Terry but maybe I can describe them and help. The threaded piece you see in the UPR pic is welded into the bottom spring perch, the big nut just gets run down the threads, the spring goes on top of the nut and up into the spring well just like normal. It's just like adjusting a normal coil over. You just turn the big nut up or down, until you get the height you want. It's much easier to adjust them with jack stands under the frame and the rear suspension hanging down. I just measure how much I want to change the height at the fender and change the big nut height that amount.

I might end up running nitto nt05 tires. 255/35/20 in the front and 305/30/20 in the rear.

Thank you Terry for all of your insight!

Just as a Heads-Up "Before" you purchase tires.

I just received the following E-Mail from M/T today.

Sent: Thu, Sep 4, 2014 10:03 am

Subject: 305/35R20 Street Comp tires

Terry,

The 305/35R20 Mickey Thompson Street Comp tires will be shipping out of our Ohio warehouse today.
So in the now very near future I will have the new M/T Street Comp tires in the 305/35-20" size.

I'll be glad to post some Pics of them when they get here if you are wanting to see them.

Given this thread, does anyone run the MT tire and wheel in 18" sizes, with the 255 up front and 275 out back? I have these tires in 275/40-18 on AFS wheels on all 4 corners on my 2005, but was thinking the MT recommended setup for the 2007...

John,

I know that their Red Mustang has the exact same wheel & tire set-up I am running right now.

That's the 255/35-20 Front & 275/35-20 Rear.

The wheels are the SC-5 Front 9" & Rear 10.5".

I don't know what they recommend for the 18" wheel & tire set-up.

Terry, they recommend for 18" wheels 255/45 up front and 275/40 out back on their wheels for proper "stance". I'm looking for someone that has it in this size and their opinions on the 18" setup...

John,

I got you buddy and just maybe someone on here is running that set-up.

I think that matches their same set-up for the other sizes also.

That's a nice fit and will look and IMO perform well on the street.

Just so you know the Street Comps don't have real sticky rubber for traction.

They do okay but once the H/P & TRQ. gets way on up there these tires probably would not be the 1st choice for racing or even maximum traction on the street.

I personally like them for all their positive attributes though that's one of the reasons I have stuck with them.

Terry, the 2007 has about 330hp NA, it's off the track for good, and will be a daily driver. For winter I have a different tire and wheel set. Right now it has 275/40-18 up front and 295/45-18 out back on Forgestar wheels. For my taste, that's too heavy out back and I'm selling the set once I get a new one.

So I just need good traction, good looks, and good wear, and I can at least rotate side to side.

Another possibility is to just go with a 275/40-18 all the way around like I have on the 2005, but I wanted one of the cars to have a slightly raked stance...

John,

I like that look one has when running the larger rear tires and somewhat smaller tires in front.

Just looks Racy to me !!!

I can tell you I have ran the M/T Street Comp tires for years now on mine and have had No-Complaints and also No-Problems.

They look good, wear excellent, no-noise, normal traction so as I said I think you will like them and not have to replace them very frequently.
