I topped everything off, plugged everything in but fuel and spark, let it turn over for a few seconds, plugged in fuel and spark, crossed fingers and attempted to start it up. It fired lightly and kind of hiccuped for about three seconds then died. I tried again and nothing. It will not fire, it only turns over. It is getting fuel up to the rails. I looked and looked for unplugged anything and finally found a ground strap that was unplugged. It is the one from the top center of the firewall just below the hood-line, but I cannot find, nor do I remember where the other end goes. Any help?? Where does this ground strap go? What does it ground and could it be my problem? If so, why did it fire initially, was it grounded loosely on something and then was shook off? Any other reasons anyone can think of why it wont start. FYI, It is a 298 stroker, MMR stage 2 heads, MMR stage two turbo cams, CMCV delete, livernoise cam phaser lockouts, and a HP turbo single turbo setup.

I don't know if I am getting spark. Can you pull a plug, ground it, and crank it over like yesteryear, or will this fry my computer?

If you have an old plug, unhook a wire, plug the old plug into it, make sure the plug is touching the engine, and hav someone crank the engine. You should see the spark especially at night.

Does anyone know where to connect that ground wire I spoke about in my original post?

The ground strap you are talking about doesn't "plug" into anything if we are talking about the same strap. If it has an eyelet on the end of it is bolts to the back of the drivers side head.

This may be far fetched, but is there any chance you have a cam in there 180 degrees out?

had this same problem with my car. 1st make sure your ground is connected. 2nd if that doesnt work then your timing is off

Make sure you timed the cams correctly. Or like Don said, make sure they are not upside down.

We had the same problem but it was on a 2 valve......Make sure your injectors are firing. What we did was pulled the plugs and found that there was only one injector operational.

You said you had fuel (pull all 8 plugs to verify)

Check for spark with a sparkplug as mentioned.

If the timing is ok (cams in right, etc.) and all else has failed, squirt some oil into each cylinder so it can seal and build compression.

I saw that happen on a newly rebuilt engine. It would crank over but not fire, had fuel, spark, timing was right, etc. Finally squirted some oil into the cylinders and she fired right up!

Hope this helps.

I do have spark and I am getting fuel. I am almost sure I have timed it properly, but never 100%, I am concerned that I may have put in my phasers incorrectly, but I was careful to follow the directions. I have corrected the ground strap issue. I went to put in the stock tune, then reload the turbo tune, but now custom turbo tune is not showing up on my predator to load back in the car. I am having a tune sent to me to get it running, but for now I tried to fire it up on the factory tune. I have been told by two people that even though the injectors are 39s and the tune is for 23s, it has a turbo, the displacement is different, it doesn't have cmcv, the VCT is locked out,and the cam profile is different, that it would still start and run (crappy). This seems like BS to me, but I don't know for sure. Right now it will fire two or three times, then nothing, but if I let it set fir 10 min it will fire again two or three times. Oh, I haven't checked all 8 for fuel yet.
