All i know is if i get pulled over and i get a ticket, its my fault. If i dont i say thank you and go on my merry way. Remember this they are just doing their job, period. Im sure more than half of the people on this site make more than any leo does. Which is sad since they are out there putting their life on the line to serve and protect you.

Yes you guys are right, a police officers personal matters (be it marital problems, depression, etc etc) outside of work should totally influence his upholding of laws while on duty. Because that's more reasonable?? :roflmao:

@OP, sucks man. I know every single time I go out and play in the car, I might get a ticket. If I do, that's my fault and I act that way. That attitude alone has gotten me out of more tickets than anything else. But I NEVER play around in residential areas. That's just asking for it.

I agree cops need to leave their baggage at home. But I also know they are human and sometimes, they just can't. Hopefully, on those days, they know to temper their actions and remarks. I know police train all the time on how to remain neutral in a given situation. Plus, it's beneficial to the officer to leave their emotional crap at the door when they walk into work. Not doing so could cost them their lives when they miss something from thinking about something that's pissing them off. But like I said, sometimes, you just can't.

Being in MedEvac my last rotation in Iraq, we had to treat both our guys AND enemy combatants. Let me tell you, that's a mind fuck right there. I won't go into all of it, but suffice it to say, it was difficult ANY day of the week.

My problem with cops are when the department has a Chief that thinks Cops know what's best for us citizens. The whole department then takes on that attitude very quickly and that's a dangerous for your rights attitude for ANY cop to have. And it seems like more and more police forces are getting that idea into their heads. ATF is already there and needs to be cleaned out from the top down.

Here it is for the winers and hatters .... Regardless who is having a bad day, who is super cop, how retarded you or the cop may be, if the speed limit is 35 mph then the maximum speed allowed by law is .... Ding ding ding 35 MPH. Not 35+5 not 35+10 it's 35. Hitting your naazzzz on the street; your lucky you don't got to jail for reckless driving. If you don't like the law fine, do whatever speed you choose, but there are consequences to your actions. Man up and pay the damn fine! If you don't want to risk getting a ticket then don't break the law!!! There is nothing stating that an officer has to give you a speed cushion. It is your responsibility as a responsible driver to maintain your vehicle, ex: making sure your speedo is right, and knowing your local and state laws on mods. Oh, and for those bitching about them pulling you over while other crimes are going on; there is Federal Overtime that pays them to run nothing but traffic! Wanna know why? Because all the dumb asses out there street racing, speeding, drinking and driving, etc.... Thing is though I love those dumb asses, they pay my bills!!!! I'm a Paramedic; I love sticking needles in people, and my wife is a Paralegal for a personal injury lawyer; she loves taking everything your retarded ass has ever made! So please keep on doing stupid shit!

Flame suit in 5..4..3..2..1....go!

Unfortunately around here police don't seem to care about how a vehicle is maintained, I can't tell you how many times I see someone driving with obviously under inflated tire, cords showing, or other careless lack of vehicle maintenance. This is the problem with the laws and how they are enforced. I can be driving 10 over and could actually be safer than the guy running around with no brakes and cords showing.

No he's a pretty cool guy, turns away a lot more than he takes. This is gonna sound like an oxy-moron but if he don't believe it he won't represent it. He is a lawyer that just finished Seminary school. Lawyer with morals...... Haha

I'd just like to add 2 things to this:
1. I've gotten out of more tickets than I can evern remember just by being courteous and respectful to the cops regardless of how they treat me. Kill 'em with kindness.
2. Cops smell BS a mile away. Own up to it if you're actually breaking the law.... no one likes a liar.

i have gotten 2 that i didn't deserve. one was a wheelie ticket on a motorcycle in a parking lot that the owner had given me permission to wheelie/stunt/whatever. i was moving in a couple of weeks and really couldn't afford to come back to court with a noterized letter cause gas would have cost me more than the $125 ticket.

the other was for a sound violation in my truck, it didn't have amps or anything like that in it. the law states if an officer can hear your stereo from 200ft its a ticket. he was parked on the opposite side of the road so 15 feet away and "thought" it was me. pay $90. how do you fight that one? its your's against his and the judge isn't going to believe you...

I instead informed him after the ticket that it was ok, i made that in 3 hours at work and it rather pissed him off cause i'm a good 30 years younger than him and our officers are rather low paid.

06torchgt- in florida 0-5 over is a warning, there is no fine for that. fines start at $120 for 6-10, then $230 for 11-15

I do know several good cops though, and have gotten warnings when they should have been tickets. in my home county (not bay county) the sherriff tells his deputies not to pull over people unless they are doing 15 over or swerving around.

Whats the cost of living in NY? I know its not cheap and from what Ive heard 100k in NY is not much. Starting pay for LEO here in Ga is around 28k a year with maybe a 3% raise every year.

Yeah the cost of living is much higher I believe also Suffolk county is one of the highest paid departments in the nation and the NYPD just revised their contracts, prior to that out of the academy it was like 30k and like 70k after 5.5 years but they had to change it bc no one wanted to be NYPD, who wants to go work in Bed Sty or Harlem or some other place for that money lol
