I just finished installing a Kenne Bell BAP on my 07 Mustang GT.Checked and doubled checked wiring. It is installed correctly according to the instructions I received from Brenspeed.

What has me perplexed is they instruct you to turn ignition to on without starting and then turn the controller dial from min to max and listen for the BAP to buzz louder as you increase setting and quieter as you decrease.I can't hear it do anything.I even used the old screwdiver stethoscope method and nothing. What does happen however is when I turn the ignition to on I get a chirp from that area.Is this normal?I can't remeber this happening before.[The chirp that is.]

The car starts and runs.I however have not driven it yet as I was concerned about this and Brenspeed was closed by the time I got this far.Your comments and suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks, Kent

I am not sure how Brenspeed reccomends the wiring, but it will usually hum when you turn the knob up to "50". I am assuming that you have upgraded the power wire and used a relay.?

If you have a volt meter, you can simply measure the output voltage from the bap. Adjust the knob so that the output is around 16v (between the large red wire without the fuse and chassis ground).

Thanks for your reply Mike. The wiring setup is the same as Kenne Bell suggests except for the elimination of the Hobbs switch by connecting the two wires that run to it together.

I measured the output voltage.Voltage with dial set at 0 was 13.15, with dial set at 50 it was 17.22 so it is working despite not having an audible hum.

Is the chirp from the fuel pump driver module when you first turn the ignition to on without starting the vehicle normal for this setup?

Thanks!

here's my kb install http://s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13645with the KB bap install at the end.I have the vacuum switch,I assume you have the manual switch with a dial....any way..that dont matter that much, there's only one wire that you cut that comes from the harness into the FP module(white)....the one(red) with the fuse, you install,to the end that comes from the harness(after you cut the white wire) the other red without the fuse goes to the other end that goes to the fuel pump...and ground is ground, and the other 2wire in black goes to the vacum switch/dial in your case

Here is how we reccomend wiring, I am sure it is the same as Brent's.

I have never noticed a "chirp" but the pumps do make a bit of noise when first fired up.

Mike thanks again for going over this with me. To the OP I installed mine with Mikes instructions without an issue.
