I think this is common sense (no being the answer) but I need to ask as one of my friends are insisting it will make a 5-10 HP increase which I doubt.

I know the 2013 5.0L makes like 400-ish BHP on regular 87 octane. Now on the 91 octane it goes to 420 BHP. Here is my question, on the east coast we have 93 octane so right away all ready 2 octane better then factory says. My friend is telling me putting Lucas octane boost which is 10 points which is 1 octane ratting is going to tack on another 5 HP or so on a stock 5.0L. Basically I will be running 94 octane. Does the stock computer have that much range will it increase the timing and ultimately horse power?

Stay away from the octane boost. It will foul spark plugs and o2 sensors. The owners manual should have a caution about octane boost too. The best way to increase hp is with a custom tune.

Ask your friend if he has the dyno sheets or time slips to show the increase.

No. It will only increase timing to the point that is commanded in the tune. It will pull back timing if it detects knock. The only time that I would recommend a higher octane than what the tune is written for is on a hot day when detonation is more possible or as a preventative measure.

Thanks guys, this is exactly what I thought too.

Even though he is my best friend he still says a Mustang 5.0L isn't faster then a SRT4 neon too lol.
