Hey boyz. I have a newb shifting question... Lets say your gonna race, on or off the track. Whatever floats your boat. I have 4.10s. If that matters. Where are your RPMs when shifting out of 1st, 2nd, etc...? Just wondering. Thanx for the input in advance.

That's like asking how long is a piece of string... vague in the extreme.

If you have an intake and tune, your rev limit is probably higher than stock. In my case, my redline is 6800rpm so I shift at 6500rpm because the throttle body starts closing 300rpm before redline.

You will want to stay in gear as long as possible so after you shift, you will be at higher rpm in the next gear, and hopefully back in the powerband.

shift until you hit the rev limited in each gear. youll hear it go babapbabapbabap. Itll ensure your pushing out all the horses you can in each gear.

Seriously tho.. itd differentiates between cars...

When I shift from 1st to second its between 6400-6500. Again you have to find the spot comfortable to shift it.

My tune didn't raise my rev limiter. I feel cheated.

I know this is probably not a good idea but I run my best et when I rev it to the limiter. I still have stock limit. With enough practice you will get good enough to react to the limit on the first fuel cut.

I knew I was gonna get smart ass remarks lmao!!! Love it. Really tho. Im asking cuz I want a clean smooth shift getting the most power out of every gear. So its not just redlining the crap of the car to get the most power?!?!?! LOL WTF And another dumb question, it what range do you get the most power? Powerband I take it. Sorry for being a newb.

It's an option on some tuners to make that change.

RH

Think if I email Brenspeed about it, they'll send me a new tune with a higher rev limit? (and if so, what's the "safe" limit for a stock motor?)

It is if you know how to drive.

Hold the throttle wide open, then a split second before the rev limiter pull the shifter out of first and into 2nd as you quickly punch the clutch...

Ok, I get that. But has anyone ever not been able to get in gear at your highest rpm? Is that normal?
Plus yea, I have tunes from Bama.

*snip*

That shit pisses me off. These kids think they can rev to 11k "because its a honda". Very few Honda engine are capable of those revs safely, even with extensive modifications, but they do it anyway, and now you cant find decent engines anymore...

Sounds like you need a CHE torque limiter. It changed my life.

I know I should look it up, but what exactly does it do or did for you???
BTW my limiter is at 6500

Its pretty much an engine damper.
When youre motor mounts allow the engine to move a lot it will make it hard to quickly change gears under load.

Id be more inclined to just get better/solid motor mounts, but thats just me

the CHE torque limiter was one of my first mods and it is worth every penny. It's a bar that basically connects the transmission to the chassis. Makes the shifts feel much firmer. After installing this, I promptly decided I wasn't going to spend money on an aftermarket shifter.

For those of you who have it, do you get weird clunking sometimes when you shift? My car did this weird clunk since the day I bought it (100% stock) and now it's just more pronounced.
